Tried setting xbmc to software rendering and a bunch of other suggestions that apparently fixed the problem for other people but so far nothing has worked. I can watch the instant video fine on pc so I dont think it should be a network issue?. My guess would be software needs to be updated. If you have a rooted device, can't you get one of the pre-rooted updated versions of the software that you can flash through recovery if you've got that set up too?

My Fire Stick is coming tomorrow. I was originally quoted mid January. Two weeks ago, they updated it to Dec 24. Yesterday they updated it to next Monday. Today I got the notice it has shipped.

Whether that's worth the extra money is up to you. I don't think the Stick has been rooted yet but root isn't that important. Llama is good, but a real icon is better!

If there is some kind of blank app that has either the XBMC or Kodi logo that I could then use Llama for, well that would be neat.

I've got a Fire TV problem. I bought two already and two sticks and I just bought a Fire TV for my brother for Christmas. If you're on the fence about it, get one, they are a great product. I've finally been able to retire my boxee.

I have a different Fire TV problem, my Fire TV Stick won't stay connected to my wifi. I haven't really had the time to troubleshoot it but it's kind of annoying. It's near the router and I live in a rural area with almost no other wifi networks to cause that sort of interference. Maybe it just doesn't being in close proximity to a few other wifi devices (TV, two consoles). Never had this issue with any other device on my network though. edit: I have an Asus RT N-16 set on WPA2 within about 20-30 feet of my TV setup on ipv4 and using google dns since comcast has been having dns problems in my area (or had I haven't turned it off after half the internet didn't work for a little bit until I changed my dns) MagusDraco fucked around with this message at 20:30 on Dec 12, 2014 |

I've had something similar happen a couple of times - the stick is in the same room as the router and works fine, until it loses connectivity for no reason. Can't rejoin the network (or it says 'limited connectivity'), but restarting the stick has gotten it going again each time so far (waiting overnight did nothing.)

Got a Fire TV stick recently to give as a gift, have a few questions: 1. XBMC or SPMC? (ease of use is a concern) 2. Can the stick handle SNES/Genesis emulators? 3. Can the normal Fire and/or the stick handle two gamepads for two player games?

Jadius posted:1: SPMC. It has a number of Android specific fixes over regular XBMC. Use this keymap for the remote. Gonna disagree with this one. There's no real reason to use SPMC over regular XBMC. And you can run into special issues with SPMC like PleXBMC trying to cache so much of a movie that it uses all of the internal memory until it starts throws warning errors and slows to a crawl. (But, yeah, change your keymap)

Stopped by Gamestop yesterday for a BT gamepad and all they had was the Gamestick, which is apparently some failed Android gaming system. They only wanted $16* and being too impatient to wait for something from Amazon I bought it. The Fire TV actually recognizes the GAMESTICK by name, and it seems to function fine with the Fire TV itself. Works fine with GENSoid, but no luck with Snes9x so far. Snes9x only recognizes one button press on the Fire TV remote, and the same goes for the Gamestick; unfortunately this button doesn't bring up the settings menu. Anything I can do to try to fix this? *the gamepad itself can be had for only $9 on their website) . It's as comfortable to hold as a you would imagine a giant NES controller would be.

Is this an older version of Snes9x or something? Because I know a few revisions back you could only edit input settings on a global level, but newer releases allow you to change the input settings on a per device basis.
