Boogaleeboo posted:Sweety as has been mentioned the show had ghosts and also lava monsters and magic coins. You are watching a show about magical creatures. Sometimes that has a bit of a rational explanation attached, and sometimes it's just flat out magic. Roll with it and move on. The show is a mess and everything is thought of on the fly. The didn't address how Wessen can spot Grimms for 3 seasons and then its "eye color changes!" even though several times throughout the show Wessen have woged and didn't realize they were facing a Grimm until Nick said something about it to them. Also, there's literal magic spells that can do whatever, crazy Krampus monster who loses control only once a year, lava golem, ghost lady stealing children, etc. The writers just wing it and occasionally throw in some epic meta-plot like the keys, which if you asked the writers point-blank they'd have to admit they don't know what they plan to do with it yet. Grimm occupies the same category as the X-Files, only the showrunners for Grimm have never tried to claim they had some grand overreaching plan for the series. The entire "Royal blood" thing is still completely unexplained despite that fact that it makes Adalind's baby have special powers even though Reynard is the exact same and there's nothing unique about him yet.

It can only (in my limited brain storming) be explained that royal zauberbeist blood was needed. Otherwise, I cannot find any difference between Royal man impregnanting hexenbeist other than the one child is a male (Captain) and the other a female (levitating magic world-changing baby). So they will either ignore it completely, explain that women are more powerful "beists", or give a chimp a typewriter.

It's stated repeatedly by the strange gypsy woman and the other Royals in Europe how important it is that they get a hold of the baby. With Grimms, it seems like a recessive gene that may or may not pop up in the descendants, but they did some sort of magical test for "royal blood" on Adalind's baby and once confirmed people were ready to kill each other to control that child. Reynard even flew to Europe to convene with the resistance about how important it was to capture the child. Seriously, it makes no loving sense but has never once been questioned in the show.

That's sort of more of the case in the earlier seasons where he gets away with it. I did go back and watch them and a lot of the time when wesen don't notice Nick saw them it's because they're looking away at exact time they woge (woging during witness statements happens a lot), or they don't actually know about Grimms at all.

There's a really noticeable one when he confronts the pig-chef who's been poisoning Blutbat, the chef woges while staring Nick in the eyes, and doesn't even realize he's a Grimm until Nick mentions the special mushrooms being used in the tarts. It's ambiguous enough that I'm not sure the writers decided on what makes Wessen realizing that Nick is a Grimm until that point in season 3.

She did the Rehexenbiestening thing while she was preggers though which Mommy Renard implied made the child a lot more special. Also regarding Hexenbiest powers I think it was heavily implied that the baby did the telekinesis stuff? The powersurge in the café had Adalind patting her babybump rather than looking smug iirc. I won't presume to know what the hell the writers are thinking though, they are all over the place and plenty of things are wildly inconsistent.

Still, when Adalind realized her baby was gone, she did that shriek that blew out windows and wreaked a bit of havoc all down the street. That said, the show seems to have reconsidered and upgraded that power that hexenbeists can wield. In Season One Adalind could "cast" Cookies of Obsession. For that matter, she seemed to have retained her knowledge of magic since she used that cat-based curse on Juliette after Nick removed her powers. Basically she was a blonder, meaner Rosalee. Now hexenbeists can use telekinetic effects, induce mind control to the point of suicide, cast spells of transformation on themselves or others, create effects of mass hypnosis/time stop and, with the right tools, raise people from the recently dead. I'm really hoping for Viktor and Adalind to try the obligatory "Let's kidnap the Grimm's girlfriend" just to see it go horribly, gloriously wrong for them as Juliette uses her hexenpowers, kitchen-fu and gun to turn the kidnap team of hundjagers into dogmeat.

Since they actually have used genetics for plot progression in the past, it's not too far fetched for Adelind to just be a genetic anomaly. You're saying you want Adalind to have wesen down syndrome?

Even if they don't do that, someone might. My money's more on the wesen supremacist guys trying it to gently caress with Nick after learning he's a Grimm again. The bigger issue for Nick and Juliette's relationship is that now if Juliette accidentally woges, Nick will see a hideous rotting corpsemonster and Juliette will see two bottomless black pits of judgment and horror.

I gotta say, for a show that is quietly approaching 100 episodes Trubel has definitely made her mark and I can't really imagine the show without her, especially since Adalind's spots are generally terrible in recent episodes. I wish they had introduced her sooner. Anybody started from the TNT broadcasts? I was somewhat surprised they started playing the series in prime time hours.

Grimm returns this Friday. I’ve updated the OP with the next episode info. Uh-oh. someone encountered a Hexenbiest/Zauberbiest potion or spell! Better make a percentage dice roll to see what side effects happen! All effects stack. Doubles applies the effect and you roll again (except on 00 or 99) Hexenbiest/Zauberbiest spell/potion side effects table 00: Critical Failure. Roll a D8. Take that result and roll that many times on this table. 05: Develop an unconscious urge to eat inedible objects. Once an hour for the next 4 + 1d20 hours, you consume one small inedible object. Any objects you consume increase your encumberance, and depending on the object you may need to make a Fortitude save to resist critical poisoning. 11: Your hair changes colour for 2d6 days. Roll on the Unnatural Hair Colours table to determine what shade. This is a double, add this to the list of effects and roll another effect. 15: You become really, really high for the next 1d4 hours. 21: Lose all memory of a certain aspect of your character. One of your skills is unavailable for the next 2d8 weeks. 22: Develop uncontrollable lust for an inanimate object (Willpower saves). This is a double, add this to the list of effects and roll another effect. 29: Develop uncontrollable lust for another PC (Willpower saves). 33: You go bald. Everywhere. This is a double, add this to the list of effects and roll another effect. 40: You gain X-Ray vision for the next 1d6 days. Unfortunately, X-Rays are dangerous. Better invest in lead aprons. Does not stack with itself. 41: Dick cancer. If you were a woman, well, you might want to check again. Fortitude saves. 42: You achieve spiritual enlightenment. Gain +1 to your wisdom stat for the next 3d6 hours. Does not stack with itself. 46: You hope no one will notice the bright green shade your skin turns. 50: Your Hexenbiest/Zauberbiest powers are boosted by +2 for. Does not stack with itself. If you were not a Hexenbiest/Zauberbiest, you are now! 55: You gain Time Stop as a daily power for 1+ 1d6 days. This is a double, add this to the list of effects and roll another effect. 59: You gain the appearance of another PC or NPC for the next 1d4 hours. 66: Congratulations, you’re pregnant! Don’t ask. Just don’t. Does not stack with itself. 70: If you have sex in the next 1d12 days, you have a chance to instantly die. Fortitude saves. Does not stack with itself. 71: You have two left feet. Additional ones. Better see a tailor or start wearing a centaur costume. Does not stack with itself. 72: You spontaneously develop the Telekinesis skill, permanently. Add this to your character sheet. 84: Explosive diarrhea. As in you will literally explode. Fortitude saves. 96: The Hexenbiest/Zauberbiest and the target swap vision, accompanied by migraine headaches for the next 4d6 days. 99: Critical Success. The spell works perfectly with no side effects. I seem to have lost the rest of the table, help me fill it in!

03. You get actual diarrhea. But it's, like, really bad diarrhea. Luckily the local Fuchsbau Farmacist has something for that.

04. You gain a severe allergy to cats and cat dander. Fortitude save at +2 or die unless you have an eppie pen. 44. You suffer mild Ailurophilia (sexual attraction to cats) for the next 1d6 days which manifests in you seeking out catgirl porn on the internet and being really intense in talking about it with other neckbeards on anime message boards.

85. Your face is now covered in radioactive boils. Anyone who touches you suffers radiation sickness for 2d4 weeks. 37. A large golden stone develops on top of your thyroid gland. It must be removed or you die in 1d6 hours.
