Nevermind the fact that the Patriots cheated, Ray Rice beat his wife, Adrian Peterson beat his son, and rapists, dog fighters, and general scum bags abound in the NFL, he didn't talk to the media and should be loving killed. Seriously, gently caress ESPN and gently caress the NFL. Edit: I posted this after Adam Shefter equated Marshawn Lynch's not talking to the media and "obscene gesture" to being just as bad as cheating.

That was a lot more definitive than I was expecting. I mean it's not going to convince much of anyone either way, but it's very clearly setting what the Patriots response is rather than simply ducking and weaving and waiting until they know what the league knows. If they're guilty (which let's be honest is looking pretty likely) this is a risky strategy because you risk putting something out there that can be definitively disproven, but it gives you more credibility in the meantime. The other strategy is essentially to sit back, say nothing, and essentially go "prove it" which, while more likely to make it so that you can't be proven to be guilty, makes everyone assume you are. Also, knowing Goodell, he'll come down much harder on Bill if he does manage to prove anything once Bill's made these denials in public than if he said nothing. Not what I was expecting. Sure isn't much compared to the facts on the ground, of course, but interesting nonetheless.

I mean, it's possible that a lot of people are frustrated with the Pats, and that a bunch of others aren't. It's not like one possibility precludes the other in a league where there are lots of people in coaching/leadership positions. e. @ #flexball ads in the presser GonadTheBallbarian fucked around with this message at 16:26 on Jan 22, 2015 |

Not that I think the Patriots would have kept Aaron around anyway - nobody wants a loving nutjob serial killer in a high-stress environment around their very valuable football players no matter how good he is, it's just not good for business - they didn't have much choice cutting Aaron since it was clear he was going to be in jail awaiting trial for a year or two no matter what.

What's interesting is that it's potentially way worse for the NFL and the Pats for Brady to be behind this because then they'd have to punish him instead of Belichick, and yet Bill didn't even try to shield him. He basically said talk to Brady.quote:“I think we all know that quarterbacks, kickers, specialists have certain preferences on the footballs,” Belichick said. “They know a lot more than I do. They’re a lot more sensitive to it than I am. I hear them comment on it from time to time, but I can tell you and they will tell you that there’s never any sympathy whatsoever from me on that subject. Zero. Tom’s personal preferences on his footballs are something that he can talk about in much better detail and information than I could possibly provide.” Mister Fister posted:Ok, what about the wall street journal guy?

It's beautiful. @BillSimmons The Pats would have been better off just having multiple key guys get suspended for PEDs like everyone else. Also - the fact that Belichick did the whole "wasn't me, ask Tom" thing makes me feel even worse about Brady's iffy contract status.
