AT&T and Comcast have a duopoly in my area, they are both capped, and there's nothing to switch to. i do have the option of giving them twice as much money for an uncapped business class internet (with a bonus two year contract) my for real options are to pay up, or move to another area, and nobody's doing that over the internet. i'd rather stop using it

Sorry to hear about your issues! We here at xfinity Comcast NBC are working hard to bring you the FASTEST internet at the LOWEST price. If you're against data caps, tell those phoney tech-wannabes in washington to take a hike along with their ridiculous net neutrality regulations, so we can bring you the best HD content at blazing fast speeds. Since you've complained in a public space, we're giving you $10 off an upgrade to Digital Blast Triple Pay edition, which comes bundled with a phone line and free* calls on evenings and weekends!

My weird thing is having my Samsung LED backlight tv go blank unless I unplug it. Comcast has services. They want you to rent new equipment and get a phone. I like those people who try to be nice.

My home internet is a 30 mbps connection capped at 10 GB/month with $10/GB overages. I live in America and this is the only non dialup or satellite option available at my home. I browse the web with images disabled and carefully ration my 144p Youtube viewing time.

At least they let you pay overages now. Before they'd just ban you from their service for a year or three or something. There are no other viable providers in lots of the US. DSL? Half of 56k speed with 20%+ packet loss and 300+ms latency on the first hop. I live in a populated city where no one has dsl. You pretty much have to go Comcast business if you go anywhere near the cap because they don't even up the cap on their faster plans. Which makes no sense at all. There's fios 5 minutes from me.

My only providers are att and cox and neither are capped. 50/mo for 50mbps going up to 150 for like 80. Seems reasonable.

Then they came for the Cox, and I liked that—

here's the thing, i have a router with tomato software and its' data does not match up with comcast's meter. not even a little bit. and that makes sense because we just watch netflix, hulu, and porn. it's not even high quality porn, just normal low quality streaming stuf

So is this the part of the thread where someone comes in and gushes about having Google Fiber or how Google Fiber's coming to their hood or how they wished Google Fiber would come to their hood? E: I wish municipal fiber was more of a thing. I hear EPB's got some good poo poo, but I'm nowhere near Chattanooga.

I am so mad at this thread. 250gb caps in 2001? The majority of plans here today are 50gb or LESS capped and you pay through the loving nose for it. I'm on the highest speed unlimited broadband plan I could get here. Took me 6 weeks to get connected in the first place and several hundreds of dollars. My connection routinely drops and I routinely get speeds barely above 1990s dial up. Babies!

I worked for a Comcast cable contractor as a service tech. I never even got an email address, just a heavy chirp phone. Got paid piecemeal for installations and it seems I got assigned a lot of lovely haunted houses that need a new cable drop and rewiring/connecting new rooms; some took a half a day when the usual visit can't exceed 30 minutes if you want to make any money. Made less than minimum some weeks. I'll still gladly accept your goatse if you can kindly post it in this thread.

Besides calling customer service, because that's a nightmare, how do I find out if I have a cap on my internet? I don't think I'd go through it, because I just use the web and watch porn a few times a day, and play online games with my PS4, but I'd still like to know. I have TW Cable internet with the fastest option, if that helps.
