Seeing Buffon and Barzagli cry in the post-match interview was But what a great game. No regrets (except that if we had Verratti and an actual striker... Oh well)

So: in all honesty, do you think that was the last match Buffon will play for Italy?

BTW I really think this was the game that decided the title, it's a shame it had to be the quarterfinal.

Buffon has already said he'll play until at least the next World Cup. Hopefully by then Perin, Donnarumma, or the thousand other good keepers we have will be "experienced" enough to get rid of Sirigu and Marchetti. Hell, I'd take Padelli even and since Ventura will be the manager we might get him. Age wise I think only De Rossi and Barzagli will be forced to retire.

If this keeps up Donnarumma will retire before Buffon does, with the words "My one regret is that Buffon didn't get injured even once, so I could get an Italy cap. What the gently caress???"

Zaza is notorious for running out and doing something spastic and stupid as soon as he's subbed on. If Conte wanted to sub him in for penos, he should've done so with 5 or 10 minutes left in ET to run around and get the nerves calmed, expend some energy. You know, like how I throw a ball in the yard for my dog to tire her out before I take her on a walk.

Zaza reminded me of Anelka, also subbed on during a CL final to take a pen. And he sure missed it. Not sure pen subs are the best idea for a big game.
