Yeah, I thought the format got in the way. It's very cool, but should have been toned way down. This is more about the filming/post processing technique than the skateboarding.

Can anyone parse this part:

It he talking about if the board is sitting with four wheels on the ground or what? I don't get the "It's a triangle going up the ramp" part.

No, it's with tail (or nose) down.

It would be interesting if you could elaborate on that if you feel like it.

Ahh OK, that makes sense though I'm still not sure how to make sense of his triangle comment. I get that the board with its tail or nose down makes a triangle, I don't get how that involves it (the triangle) going up a ramp.

I don't think he's talking about a skateboard ramp, but the the shape of the geometry the board makes when it's like that. It's messy, for sure, and could also just be the writer who's messing it up.

I'm astonished that he's the first pro to come out and that it's seemingly a big deal.
Is skateboarding really that homophobic?.

Hmm, maybe it's just the group that I grew up with that was more inclusive/progressive.

It's ok. I bought a BMX (again) this year:). It's both easier and harder. You'll fall less, but you'll fall harder.

While I'm impressed with his ability to absorb hits, I actually think it's mostly stupid. Bigger isn't always better, at least not with the price he's paying for it.

my favorite old man thing to say now (I may have picked it up from this thread, not sure) is when asked how long have you been skating you say something like "oh I don't know about 30 miniutes? I just got here".

That's a good skate dad joke.

When I picked up a second hand BMX last year, the guy looked at me and said, "So, errhh...do you ride??!?".
It's kinda cool to go to the skatepark in the morning before the hangovers clear out and the 'kids' (and scooter kids arrive) and there'll usually be a small group of older guys riding/skating.

I think it was stacy p's bones doc where they talked about Tony Hawk becoming crust punk enemy #1 because he kept winning competitions as a really young kid looking like his mom dressed him and killing runs where he didnt look in danger of missing a trick at any point

He had zero style...and yeah, was way to clean.
It took him a long time to develop a style and I'm still not sure that it wasn't just because he was the only constant in vert skating and we just got used to it.
But..you watch any of the masters bowl comps and compare Hawk to McGill, Cab or even Lance and he's still nowhere near.

That Nyjah vid :shlick:

I'm not a fan of his style, but man, can he ride rails. OTOH, that's about all he does for about 11mins, apart from some slow mo drone/steady cam shots of him on the ground.
He's cleaned up his style a lot as well and isn't flailing around anywhere near as much after he lands tricks...I still kinda hate him, though :)

Grade 3 quad strain will have you in very high discomfort and unable to walk without crutches. If you can walk, it's not that bad. Give it a week, ice it a couple of times a day and pop some ibuprofen and you'll be back in a week.
