i was at a party yesterday and someone i know from highschool was saying that america is a great country because it's possible to be successful there, and that it's impossible here in finland. he said that no matter who you are, you just have to work hard enough and you will become rich. i told him that wealth is mostly hereditary there and being successful there is actually probably harder if you start from nothing. he denied it and said that you just have to work hard enough none of the poo poo he said made any sense at all until he said that he heard his dad (who moved here from usa) complaining about the taxes he has to pay here, and his dad would have 2 ferraris instead of 2 bmws if the taxes werent so high. he also said that he has a million dollar heritance waiting for him in the states. he also said it sucks that finnish education is free because it makes people lazy since they dont have to work full time jobs in addition to studying, and that the same system should be here in finland. then he said he can't wait to move to usa i didnt know what to say so i told him that he already thinks like a typical american, and he took it as a compliment. then i left the room. afaik he doesn't actually work himself but he's playing borderlands 2 on steam as i'm typing this Minorkos fucked around with this message at 21:26 on Jul 5, 2014 |
