Pump tons of horrible noise into that nervous system. Feedback signals, wildly shifting voltages and horrific sensory recordings. Let it knows what it feels like to be burned alive before we actually burn it alive.

Also shout out "cha-Ching" to Tanya right as we gently caress up the spider matrix.

We need to start acting like a lord sire and start delegating tasks. We are of the machine and the machine is many. Going direct and hands on will get us blindsided and leaving the ship lets our enemies plot behind our backs. We have to start building a base of operations and leveraging our resources.

E. Using our forces and allies we should begin a massive coordination effort between the planet and our tribes/gangs to identify needs, catalogue and collect resources and facilitate profitable trade. A network completely under our control. Soldiers can protect convoys or ferry high value persons to our ship. The gangs and tribes can get us war material and get it ready to ship. Hero units can go on medium danger expeditions to scout, secure and defend. We also use this new network to gather Intel on lemon and captian cancer. We will become the central cogitator of a massive machine whos goals are to protect our interests, identify and remove threats and install us a sole ruler of the ship.

We need to build our network now. Adventuring is fun but we need to start playing the politics game. the Magos and the Inquisiton aren't going to save us when Limosa cuts is off and frames us for something petty or just gets us kicked off for not making any money.

These are men who care only for the efficiency of their violence and stoicism in battle. We can entice them with stories of endless battle against challenging and brutal foes. We need only for them to follow us and fight where we point. As HiHo said, we can brush off he Psider as a simple skirmish and point out that we do battle with warp spawn and xeno's on a consistent basis. Do not say this braggingly, but as a matter of of daily life for us. What we can bait them with is access to more efficient and deadly Mechanicus approved weapons on top of new opportunities to fight and triumph.

One of the great parts about being a tech preist is that you speak the language of physics. It would be a trivial matter to calculate the trajectory of the bullet using the position of the guardsmen, distance between you and him as well as time between you hearing the bullet and sound of impact. We can also determine the speed of the bullet from acoustic readings. It was a bullet so our sensors could scan for the slug and that, combined with everything else, should tell us direction, elevation, rifle type, ammo and probable position. (Final velocity vs muzzle velocity as well as drop etc.)

Once we know position we can send out three servo skulls to find them, incase the sniper gets cagey and tries to take them out. Two along the edges of the bullet path and one above at higher altitude. Meanwhile we perform a search of all local IG units that have the aforementioned munitions. Physicaly we don't react much, but we should get to a safe position. We should be careful that our friend Paxie isn't trying something batshit to flush us out. So when we make inquires me must be careful not to tip our hand.

E. Take the rifle but inspect it very carefully and keep it sealed away. After grabbing the rifle scan everyone and the rifle for trace evidence. If someone shot it they will be covered in residue. There may be prints on the gun. Also record each of the gathered Soilders and investigate them fully. It may be useful to turn of the rifle to Pax and point that mad dog on someone else's tail. Give it to Limosa as a prize won on the battle field. It sends a nice message saying we are onto him.

Also jumping on the oh-god-more fluff bandwagon. Everything you have wrote in this thread is delicious and I need more and am prepared to throw money at it as soon as possible.

When faced with such vile and profane heresy there is but only once choice. Purge the xeno, the heretic, the courrupted. Expunge the gene stealers with righteous fury and zeal. Tear the foulness from the consoles and expunged the courrupted cogitators: rage and rave against this corruption and pray to the Omnissiah that something holy still remains unstained.

Some knowledge must be lost, for the good of the Imperium. Thoughts like that are invitations to chaos. The road to the warp is paved with good intentions. The universe is vast. Another ship will be found, but this is courrpted beyond use. We will mourn it's loss and try to salvage what we can, but the Imperium needs pure hearts and minds before it needs tainted relics.

Pure hearts and Minds are born every second by the millions. There is no shortage of them. That drivel you spout is good to make sure the dregs don't step out of line. We don't want THEM to start messing with anything. But we're Ohone. We're a genius among the Machine Cult. We're an Interrogator. We're part of the Family of a Rogue Trader. We absolutely CAN deal with this. It is likely the Omnissiah himself who guided us here. Any yokel with flamethrower could 'purify' it in destruction. We on the other hand, can sift the sludge out of the holy. We can repair it. We can bring the glories of the past back now, and lead the Imperium in a new era of resurgent growth!

Pride like this always precedes a fall. How many souls are lost to the ruinous powers. We are no greater than the lowest dreg. We would do well to remember ourselves before soiling our hands in some arrogant attempt to salvage something old. I tell you what we should salvage, the souls of the poor men enslaved to this foul xeno tech heresy and the lives of our men.

You want me to admit there's a risk to our soul? Fine. There's a risk that looking into this will corrupt us to the very core if we screw up. But if we're not prepared to risk out lives, our hearts, our souls, then we're better off asking the Lord Sire to put us in a cubicle and look at the same screen for the rest of our lives. We aspire to be a Magos, an Inquisitor, a Rogue Trader, and more. These things are not gained without taking risks. To turn away from this advancement because we're worried about what it might do to our soul is not faith. It is cowardice and selfishness.

And these things are not gained while being soft-hearted about others. It's probably just their shells and such. The Omnissiah has taken their souls I'm sure.

We are of the machine. Thoughts of ego and pride and cowardice are not in the equation. We cannot allow the adversary to gain even a single inch or a single soul. This machine is temptation in its purest form. The devil will not approach with a handful of feces, but a golden banquet of the greatest magnitude. What we lack in material the Omnissiah will provide. Our goal, above all else, is the protection and advancement of the imperium of man, so it follows that that exact temptation is what the ruinous powers would bait us with. There will be another ship, untainted and pure when the God Emperor wills us to find one. Pity those that trust in reason and would put themselves before the Emperor. Their only reward is a wretched death. Intolerance and zeal are the mark of the faithful. Put this heresy to the flame and faith in the emperor to gain the greatest reward of all. He who dares to preserve this abomination will know only treachery and retribution. The Emperor provides, gain will not be found in the taint of the xeno and the heretic.

Shogeton posted:

Considering the possible gains, the possibility of the loss of a few souls is well within acceptable parameters. We have no reason to believe that there are more ships like this. The fact that we find it now is already a miracle of the Omnissiah. The Omnissiah provides. He has provided us the tools to repair. And see, he has provided the object to repair. To turn our back on it, to reject the challenge that is before us and destroy, rather than redeem these sacred things is unacceptably wasteful. Our goal is the advancement of the Emperor. If we let our fear of the ruinous powers deny the Imperium the power and knowledge this represents, we play in their hand. Is this a trap? Potentially. But an objective risk assessment will show that the possible gains well outweigh the possible losses. Which is merely our souls, as well as a few million others.

Compromise is akin to treachery. How many souls would you toss into damnation for a single step forward? The power of the Imperium comes not from the barrel of a gun or the mouth of a factory but from the will of billions upon billions of faithful souls. Your logic is reasonable but reason is the first step to heresy. There is but only one action warrented when presented with suc foulness. Purge the unclean. Put it to the purification of flame and zeal and if anything remains, it does so by the will of the Omnissiah. Then we will know what is to be saved. Fear is the domain of the animal, faith and zeal will preserve our silicon soul this day. We are not required to think, only to act. There are no user serviceable parts inside. The machine spirit is corrupted. Press enter to format drive.

Always with 'Omnissiah preserve us', think of someone else than ourselves. We are one cog in the beautiful machine that is the Imperium. A good cog, of rare make and skill. But if we fail, the Machine will continue. What we could do here might improve the Imperium manyfold. It is worth it.
Our own ship has faced corruption by a demon. Do you suggest we 'purge' it as well. Kill everyone from the servitors up to the Lord Sire, just to make sure nothing was taken? Do we perhaps burn this planet to cinders as well? The whole Sector maybe?

A cog in the machine obeys. It does not set itself higher than others. Our function is to perform the will of the Omnissiah and that is to put the xeno, the heretic, and the mutant to the flame. We have committed a purge on the Beast of all those tainted by Abraxus, and some that were only suspected. Do your duty, cleanse the filth. Salvage what we can.

Where did blowing it up come into play. The Xeno's are hacked on a biological level. Order them to have the attached organics shut down safely and dissolve away. After that have them all gather in a cargo bay and do the same. Cleanse the filth, prepare the ship for extraction and then get it back to the beast.
