It is indeed another Phantom Thief job. It should be available right after you start investigating Renne's parents and the threatening letters. Get some fire arts and S-Crafts ready before you search out the final clue.

Where do you get new fishing rods? I still haven't seen any besides the one in the casino. I've got a dozen baits I can't use.

You can get a bamboo rod from the fishing woman in I think the West block. On another note, Book 5 is in the coffee house when the story forces you to go there.

And I gave up on doing it, just going to do it when I replay. My last save before that is at the beginning of the chapter, and I already missed BP due to forgetting to overdo the gun testing quest. Thanks for the warning, though.

With the release of SC, I figured it was finally time for me to finish up my playthrough of FC. Things are pretty rad and all (I'm on chapter three) but I've got a question:

Does the Temp Librarian Plus sidequest expire once you leave for the Leiston Fortress or whatever plot? The wiki says it does, but the game plot-locked its completion ever since I got to Elmo Village and it's kind of really annoying me because I'm not sure when, exactly, I was expected to do the quest.

I've done literally every other sidequest in the game, hidden and not, and it would be kinda frustrating to be locked out of 100% quest completion because of this.

You're basically required to do Temp Plus part 1 before Elmo is required. Elmo locks out pretty much everything for reasons.

In SC news, I accidentally triggered the Chap 8 end before I could do the Grancel monsters. Not going back though, Zeiss's hidden was so mind-numbing, even with Cloak, that I don't want to have to do it again for a while. Plus I missed some early stuff.
Hope the sepith shop wasn't overly great, because that's missed for me.

If you have Agate, Gladiator Headband + AT Delay + Action 2 = worm that can never take a turn, at least until Agate runs out of CP. By then it's probably dead.

EDIT:on that's what it was, I didn't want to lose cast 2

I managed to squeeze out Zodiac on Kevin while still retaining Action/Cast. Onyx Gem, Attack 4, Wood Gem, Gold Gem, Defense 4, Mind 4, with Cast 2 in the other line gets it. It also happens to pick up Lost Mobius, which is probably the best AOE attack spell if you can get past its 100 base cost. Despite it saying Area (M), it has a larger area than White Gehenna by default (though not quite Aero Storm level), and I think it also has better damage. What it does also do is pull all the enemies to the center of the AOE, letting you hit them with smaller area things.

Also, another problem, how the goddamn gently caress are you supposed to beat the Mouki monsters in Rolent's sewer's second room as part of another Bleublanc puzzle hunt? There are three of them with 8800+ HP, they suck huge chunks of HP off to heal themselves, and they summon more of themselves as reinforcements, meaning that you can easily end up in a situation where you have MORE of them on the field than when the fight first started. gently caress that fight.

I thought going into it with full CP gauges would help, but even unleashing two of them onto one doesn't kill one.
Clock Down + AOE Earth spell spam was what I used. Make sure not to get one too low (1/4-1/3 remaining health or so), as I'm 90% sure that's the trigger for reinforcements. Also, if you bring Agate, delay any one that's low health.

From how I gather, it's a time based thing, not turn based. Barrage is bad for that given I think victory only triggers when Estelle gets a turn again, and last-turn Barrage can mess that up.

Try Aerial instead of White Gehenna, and use food to heal and stat boost, if you have some lying around. Also burn your attack food.

Basically you want the fastest attacks, even if damage is somewhat compromised as a result.

Assuming you mean the Chapter 2 field study, wasn't able to due to being very short on money (heard about the omelet trick, will have to pull it off next time I get Elliot). Don't think it would have saved anyone except Rean, and don't think that would have helped even him if they turned on Howl beforehand. They're doing ~1600x2 to me unbuffed, ~2100x2 with Howl. Jusis, for example, only has around ~2200 HP.

I did just end up S-Crafting one of them away, though they both dropped a final Double Cracker just to say "screw you" one last time before Burn damage dropped one.

Oh right, and is there something I'm doing wrong or does the game like to crash on the VITA when playing battle cards on the train?

Not sure what level you're at, but my favoured strategy in that fight was Millium/Rean/Alisa/Emma. Alisa keeps Rean+Millium+Emma supplied with CP and healed, and Emma keeps Alisa mostly supplied with CP and healed. An Impassion on Alisa at times also helped. 200 CP S-Crafts from Millium and Rean took care of the rest, especially for nice Overkill/Triple Kill bonuses. Ending XP multiplier on that fight was 4.2x.

I'll just eat some bullshit losses for those 50 friend points now.

Weird that everyone is using the same Emma, Blondie and Millum set up with Rean. Was grinding everyone up to 35 and to get Millium's Aegis to 4 so I guess I'll just spam and build up on arts as those spiders sure as poo poo drop a lot of EP ups.

My solution ended up being Rean/Elliot/Emma/Jusis. Rean tossed speed buffs and then spent his time trying to S-Craft over and over, Elliot spammed Holy Song with Gladiator Belt, Emma dropped Cross Crusade/Crescent Shell/Holy Breath as Elliot backup, and Jusis used Noble Command to keep attack up before Dark Matter/Breath as Emma backup.

It took some luck, but it worked. Still ridiculous as hell.

So I still don't get where that even comes from. Unless my memory is failing me completely, Zane is part of the "Taito" school, which should mean something like "Great Authority". Right here is a typo on top of a mistranslation, but I still don't know where "Calm Dip Flow" even comes from - I don't recall seeing, or Robin mentioning, anything remotely like it.

A quick check of the kanji that make it up (泰斗流) tells me that if you take it piecemeal, you can get something to the effect of "Calm Dip Flow". Everything after that is a typo. For this, you're required to ignore the meaning of 'Taito' and break it into its components, and misread 'school/style' as 'flow' when you're referring to a martial art.

TL;DR: Bad translations.

Julia has both decent caster power and physical strength. Pretty sure she outdoes Kevin in both, especially with the ability to wear the female-only ATS gear. Her crafts are kinda bad though, with only single-target Impede and 50 CP Earth Guard. To make things clear, I don't really hate Rean so much as he appears worse when compared to all the rest of the group who I am actually very interested in learning more about.

He's the character you're supposed to find most relatable (obviously, because he's the protagonist) and to accomplish this he's given a mild enough personality and values that fall mostly in the middle so that statistically the largest group of players could relate to him. That's what I mean. He isn't extreme in any direction unlike some of the classmates (as the game itself notes he's kinda the centre of the group). This is maybe most apparent in how he's uniquely both a noble and a commoner. He's basically like the dude protagonist from all harem shows who's supposed to be all like "hey look how ridiculously average this guy is, this could be you right here in this weird situation where it seems like every woman around wants you!"

And I think that this is a boring way to build your protagonist. That's my core issue. I would much more enjoy seeing the story from the perspective of someone who actually has an interesting perspective. My favourite moments with Rean are when he actually displays some of that unique perspective, which at this point of the game (beginning of chapter 4) is still very rarely.

I disagree, because Rean is extreme as hell. He's just extreme at being the protagonist of a different thing. Fate/stay night
I'd expand on that and give reasons, but I'd want to spoiler-block it too much for my taste (also I don't quite remember which bits were shown by beginning of chap 4).
