Rubbish. Why do westerners unquestioningly bray this sort of red scare dogshit despite supposedly being equipped with critical thinking and easily accessible facts on the internet?

1. Sustaining massive casualties was literally unavoidable in any possible scenario. The Third Reich was the most advanced country in the world and it waged a surprise war of EXTERMINATION with the most mobile killing machine ever seen in history across the widest and flattest terrain in Europe. There was nowhere to run or hide.

2. Soviet officers found guilty of wasting men were made an example of, harshly.

3. The sole supreme commander of the Red Army and the man behind the purges and mistreatment of his own PoWs was a Georgian.

Or do you actually reject these facts and believe Russo-Ukrainians are a cyborg hivemind that just chose to go with the most metal route possible for no reason?

Sorry I meant to say I hope that the police use maximum force and kill or maim a bunch of innocent people, thus paving a way for a proletarian uprising and socialist utopia

also here's a stupid take
---------------------------->
honestly i think that in the general historical consciousness the russians and chinese probably deserve more credit than they have traditionally gotten in the world wars but at the same time there are historical hipsters that just flip the entire thing around and suddenly they both single-handedly won the war by themselves with capitalist westerners just hanging onto their coattails

Why wasn't it a Russian? Oh yeah, because Stalin disappeared most of his qualified military officers in the Great Purge. He didn't give a gently caress about casualties.

right well i guess then stalin had no choice but to genocide the crimean turks. oh wait he isnt russian so it doesnt technically count

lol

quote:

Kulik was a notoriously abusive and ineffective commander and bureaucrat, wildly erratic and unpredictable in his actions and considered by even his colleagues to be a "murderous buffoon", albeit one who bore Stalin's official approval. He championed a bizarre personal command motto he dubbed "Jail or Medal"; those under his command were either showered with (usually unearned) awards and decorations if he favored them, or simply arrested and sent to the Gulag on trumped-up charges if he did not.

3. The sole supreme commander of the Red Army and the man behind the purges and mistreatment of his own PoWs was a Georgian.

how damning. im sure it was a total coincidence that nearly all the top positions in the USSR were occupied by ethnic russians and that stalin aggressively pursued the old tsarist russification policies

quote:

After the war the leading role of the Russian people in the Soviet family of nations and nationalities was promoted by Stalin and his successors. This shift was most clearly underscored by Communist Party General Secretary Stalin's Victory Day toast to the Russian people in May 1945:[24]

I would like to raise a toast to the health of our Soviet people and, before all, the Russian people.

I drink, before all, to the health of the Russian people, because in this war they earned general recognition as the leading force of the Soviet Union among all the nationalities of our country

Like, if the nuclear bombs were removed, Japan had that and starvation to replace them with. Much more humane I guess.

You say this while penal battalions had a casualty rate of 98% or something. The Red Army had the shittiest job in the entire war, and they performed well, despite the circumstances. But do you honestly think that a Red Army grunt's well being was even remotely considered by Soviet Russia during ww2 then just lol
