Everyone who posts in this thread is bad. Also Gundam Extreme VS Force might be fun.

It's OK but I like the other Extreme VS games more.

To respond to the guy asking about Gundam Breaker 3 last thread: I suggest importing it. It combines anime, mecha, and plastic model building all in the same video game so you have a fourth-order niche going on with the appeal. As Policenaut says, if Extreme VS Force does really well they might, but Gundam games haven't done very well.

Somewhat highly considered VN Root Double's kickstarter just added a Vita version. They are making it exclusive to people who pledge $225 and above, which is not so great.

Yeah, the big complaints were that it lacked online and a bunch of the features from normal Vs games. It's more of a Musou game with Vs elements or at least that's the main advertised mode. I cancelled my HK pre order too when they announced the US PSN release, I'll go get a 64 GB for it.

Wamdoodle posted:

Hmm. It's still on my radar but I'm not quite as enthusiastic about it as I was before :/ Eagerly awaiting your impressions then :)

I've played it for an hour or so, and my strongest impression so far is that you're playing the mission mode from the Extreme VS games. I haven't played a level that felt like a Musou game yet; at most I've had a half dozen enemies on the field with me at a time rather than the hundreds that are common in Musous. On the other hand, you can more directly control your AI buddies than you usually can, which is nice. The battleship escort missions are piss poo poo like they are in every loving video game since time began, god drat why do they insist on doing them.

This is an OK review, I think:

I'd been locked out of the store but finally got into it tonight, though once in nothing would load. Went to the download list, it loaded, backed out, and the store was working again. Access persisted after two power cycles. I realize it's an anecdote, but it may not require a firmware fix. I haven't had power issues, though.

I just finished the story of Gundam Breaker 2 though I have not done any postgame yet.

Two biggest things for me:

- your AI allies can revive you
- the super annoying Survive Defend mission type from GB1 is gone.

That right there fixes my biggest complaints from the first game.

- the parts leveling system is different. In some ways easier, in some ways much more complex. Rather than simply building a part and having the RNG determine its stats, you build a part and then level it up predictably with resources collected in the game. What makes this hard is there are dozens of resource types and no catalog to tell you where they are available so hello FAQ and/or hours on the mission screens reviewing rewards.
- there wasn't as much variety of enemies as I'd hoped for though there may be more in postgame. Some enemies only showed up once or twice, though you will kill hundreds of GN-Xs, Strikes, and RX-78s.
- the Mammoth Gundam owns.
- the story is some VR thing where your character running around in a normal suit is in the real world and playing a computer game where you pilot a robot. The allies and enemies that appear in the game are all part of the simulation, which is not at all obvious and threw me a bit because they seemed to take it way too seriously to be playing a game.
- the Build Burning arms will carry you through the game so play on an account that has the DLC.

Overall better than the first but with GB3 just around the corner I recommend you wait for that. Unless they do something terrible to the parts system it will probably be an improvement.
