Why are conservative boomers so bizarrely fixated on cheap plastic little league trophies given to 6 year olds to make them feel good? This is dumb and these people should feel bad for giving a gently caress about this. We're talking about little kids and cheap pieces of plastic here. They get them, feel nice for a minute, put them on the shelf, and that's that. This is not, for better or for worse, the first step to a socialist guerrilla insurrection. I'm a member of the Participation Trophy Generation and got some of them growing up even though I was a pretty lovely athlete. I still knew that I was a pretty lovely athlete. Moreover, I don't know a single one of my peers who is unable to function in adult life because he or she received too many undeserved t-ball accolades. Valid reactions to giving participation trophies to young kids range from "hey, neat" to "I don't loving care." Anything more than indifference makes you an idiot or, worse, an AM radio host.

my own hot take is that boomers themselves are terrible, am starting a youtube channel about this topic soon if you're interested. i think it's a fresh perspective that's never been explored, but i'm open to comments and suggestions! by which i mean gently caress off i'm doing it anyway.

It was/is a politically correct way to morn how terrible it is to beat your children now. Back in Boomer's day their fathers used to get piss drunk and absolutely beat the poo poo out of them in the guise of good and righteous punishment. When I worked as a pharmacy tech, the like 65 year old pharmacist told me about how people should just work to get through school so they don't have debt. He said when I was going through his program to get a degree in pharmacy whatever he paid for it by working summers on his parent's tobacco farm. I asked him how much he ended up paying for his degree in total. It was about 2000 dollars. Fuckin hilarious
