for music, I just find what i want on youtube, use a video downloader plugin on it, and then another thing to turn those downloads into mp3s and if it's a full album, split it into individual songs.

I use spotify most, and I'm a student so it's only five bucks, but if there's an album I really want or it's not available on spotify I buy it on amazon or at a music store.

Dangerous Minority posted:Same. I just really like having the physical media Yeah, I do this. Nowadays most physical media comes with a download code that isn't Amazon or apple protected. Especially now that Apple is killing the iPod I'm finding the importance of physical and physically owning digital media is more important to me.

I mostly listen to music when im driving and until recently I was only able to listen to the radio cause my car is ancient and only has a cassette player. Luckily a month or so ago I was at a flea market and I found one of those cassettes that has a AUX cable attached to it. Now I use Spotify.

I scout out the bands I like, find where they're playing, disguise myself as a sound tech or stage crew hours before the show to plant some mics, and then record the shows to a hidden mini disk player which I then copy on to blank cassette tapes once I reach home, as well as meticulously labeling the case with a track listing and some details about the recording.

I don't think i've bought an album or a movie/tv show since I was a kid. Went right from being dirt broke and pirating everything to having money but not needing to buy because everything is streaming on demand (I sub to netflix, etc). Also digitally imported (di.fm) has been my go to place for streaming electronic music for as long as i've had the internet. Sophy Wackles fucked around with this message at 01:16 on Sep 21, 2017 |

Tea leaves I'll screw around on Bandcamp for free albums, every blue moon I find one I like enough to pay $5-10 for. /r/listentothis rarely links good stuff, but can related videos can be good When I'm in the car and get a strong itch for a song I know the name of, I usually throw it up on YouTube I tried Spotify years ago but it sucked dick and was the internet equivalent of Top 40/Q104.3 crap. People swear by it now for finding new artists. Is it actually any better or is it like MTV in the 90s where you think you're discovering someone new in rock or w/e but it's really the handful of artists EMI, Sony, Warner, and Universal want to promote? Thought about YouTube Red but it looked like a rip. Google Play Music has solid streaming channels for metal--bearing in mind I'm a philistine when it comes to metal--but I don't have unlimited data so I avoid it when possible.
