Very curious about my team as well if someone could get that together. I know my goaltending is horrific and I'm last in goals for.

You're roughly analogous with the real Devils but with worse goaltending and forwards

It would be painful

This is incredible.

It should be noted that this is still a team of defensive stalwarts - Tanev actually leads the league in a bunch of defensive metrics too. So perhaps this would be the worst team possible to watch.

Lots of 2-1 losses!

Solid defense and goaltending seems to be working out as the Blues offense is basically average. The blue line is a bit impacted by injuries to Ellis, Stecher, and Spurgeon, which would test the depth, but overall, I think they'd be solid.

The Flyers, unlike the Blues, seem to be getting by with their goaltending, Saros taking a heavy portion of the work and excelling. Draisaitl is the center piece of the offense; without him they'd be pretty average. That said there's a good chunk of depth scoring and the defense, at the very least, can move the puck well. All in all, about what I expected when I drafted the team (like the Blues) but I think there will be some games the offense will have to win.

It's a good thing I picked up Kaprizov late - the top six forwards are still pretty good despite Boeser/Olofsson/Donskoi underperforming, and Byram-Dobson is turning out alright. Otherwise, the depth is in absolute shambles. Had someone smarter picked up the (then unsigned) Kaprizov around the 10th round as he should have gone (at least), the skaters would be trash. I'm not sure if Shesterkin's Vezina-calibre performance could save it. Just lol at some of my late-round picks: Jeremy Bracco, Josh Brook, Kenny Agostino, Nikolai Prokhorkin. Whooops. (Brook didn't have a bad 20-21 AHL season but he's missing all of this year with a knee injury, bravo).

In conclusion, Always Pick Teenagers.

This is a deep forward group that managed 258G (a little better than league average), with players spread across good and bad teams alike. Considering injuries, I think they'd still be above-average offensively and not-bad defensively. I was hoping for more from Point, but since he's probably going to gently caress up the real Leafs, I hope he chokes (Palat too). Mercer/Boldy/Newhook/Sillinger is a pretty sweet young core, and Groulx/Neighbours might contribute more next season. Kubalik was probably the worst pick in round 8 (Sprong was round 16 so whatever), but he's a pending RFA on a garbage team so maybe someone will look back fondly on his 30-goal rookie season and convince themselves that he's worth something (he's not).

Werenski/Weegar/Hanifin is a pretty good top 3. I was hoping for a bit more from Bear to round out the top 4, but he didn't produce much and got 3rd pair minutes. That group is probably not great in their own end, but hopefully Schneider developing faster than expected can help. Perunovich and Harley didn't do a whole lot and who loving knows about Sean Walker - he'll probably get moved given LA's RD depth.

Campbell dropping off from Vezina favourite to barely above-average starter is not great, but Raanta managed to crawl back up to slightly below average after a slow start. The two of them might have treaded water, especially if Campbell hadn't been forced to play through/return early from injuries. Raanta was once again not durable but at least I didn't pick Petr fuckin' Mrazek (ahem, KYLE).

Conclusion: This team is built to choke away a 3-goal lead in game 7 of round 1, but come back stronger and win back-to-back Cups next season.

Our team totals 184 goals, 345 assists, for a total 529 points. This unfortunately puts us beneath the Arizona Coyotes in the real world NHL. We consider this to be a great success, because it replicates the experiments run at Sears. We can now sell the team for parts, and forget about all the scandals we have gone through. We also have far fewer PIMs than we expected.

We didn't expect things to go great, and we went according to plan.

Pretty sure my team scored like 150 goals total and had horrendous goaltending. Amazing defensive forwards but even Lemaire can't salvage a probable last-place finish. At least Beniers is a positive.

Also McAvoy-Toews still owns so hard.

ALL ABOARD THE SCOTLAND HYPE TRAIN!

CHOO CHOO
Igor and the Oofs

Taylor Hall - Matt Barzal - Oliver Wahlstrom
Meh. ~20G ~60pt seasons for Hall and Barzal. Disappointing.

Ivan Barbashev - Charlie Coyle - Evgenii Dadonov
~20G ~60pt for Barbashev, very nice for a late round pick. 20 and 40 for Coyle and Dadonov. Meh without being terrible

Alex Kerfoot - Peyton Krebs - Lucas Raymond
Some promise here. Krebs showed up late, Raymond faded late

Matthias Janmark - I cba to find another C that hasn't been picked - Grigori Denisenko
Utterly forgettable and didn't play.

Brayden McNabb - Alex Pietrangelo
One yike

Ty Smith - Ville Heinola
Yiiiikes

Cal Foote - Chad Ruhwedel
Two guys at opposite ends of their careers who turned up and played some okay hockey.

Justin Braun

Philip Tomasino
Arthur Kaliyev
Yaroslav Askarov

Rikard Gronborg
Dustin Tokarski

The top guys were solid. The Tkachuks had career years, and Meier was a beast. Johansen ended up having a really big comeback year and Zegras popped off more than I thought he would. Dobson put up 50 points. Skjei and Severson both produced as well. Kaliyev and Jarvis are already solid NHL contributors.

I'd like to see more out of Kakko but I think it's going to come when he finally gets some real ice time.

You've got to think that something pretty special comes out of the rest of the young dudes (Power/Cozens/Johnson/Eklund/Tomasino/Clarke/Askarov/etc), and I'll be sure to :hahayes: about this in three years. The goaltending really needs work though. Did I just draft a better Devils?

Yes, you drafted the Columbus Blue Jackets. :v:

Im too lazy to do it but a quick look tells me Team Alphabetical would be on par with Seattle. So, not good! But also not Philly bad!

Ok, so I finally took the time to add up my team stats, with the only stat that matters: Penalty Minutes

Team Carolina Bunch of Jerks

Nazem Kadri: 71 games. 71 PM
Chris Kreider: 81 games, 24 PM
Brad Marchand: 70 Games, 97 PM
Tom Wilson: 78 games, 98 PM
Max Domi: 72 games, 55 PM
Corey Perry: 82 games, 66 PM
Wayne Simmonds: 72 games, 96 PM
Pat Maroon: 81 games, 134 PM
Radko Gudas: 77 games, 105 PM
Zach Bogosian: 48 games, 53 PM
Luke Schenn: 66 games, 61 PM
Andrew Ladd: 51 games, 47 PM
Cal Clutterbuck: 59 games, 10 PM
Erik Gudbranson: 78 games, 68 PM
Joe Thornton: 34 games, 10 PM
Brendan Smith: 45 games, 36 PM
Austin Watson : 67 games, 91 PM
Evander Kane: 43 games, 60 PM
Zac Rinaldo: 0 games, 0 PM, get hosed
Logan Mailloux: 12 games, 13 PM (OHL)
Samuel Morin: 0 games 😔

Craig Berube: 82 games, 597 PM

Jordan Binnington : 37 games, 14 PM, 1 water bottle thrown
Martin Jones: 35 games, 0 PM

Total Penalty Minutes: 1122, not counting Berube.

I am pretty sure league leader this year in Penalty Minutes was Nashville with 1015.

Bunch of Jerks did it ! Lead the league in penalty minutes.

More notes:
Pat Maroon was my team’s true shining star. A true 3 cup (soon to be 4 cup) champion.

Biggest disappointments: Clutterbuck and Kreider. Kreider decided to score goals and not take penalties, loving lame. Kadri showed that you can have a breakout season and still be a shithead and take penalties.

Evander Kane would be 6th in the league in penalty minutes based on his ratio. More on him in a minute.

I’m actually surprised with how many players were still played this year: Perry, Simmonds, Luke Schenn, Andrew Ladd, Austin Watson, etc

Finally: both hilariously and in a bit of disgust, it’s crazy looking back and I took Evander Kane because he was a poo poo head, but At the time it was like “yeah, surely he won’t play this year because of the poo poo he did / does.” And now the dude has played half a season and is 2 rounds away from a Stanley cup. For the record, dude is a poo poo head and should not have been allowed to play this year.

Did anyone draft a player who would later be acquired by their real-life counterpart team after the season began like Carolina and Max Domi?

I would like to know this as well. This is probably why the islanders were bad this year. Obviously.

Surprisingly large amount of goals scored, good enough for 10th in the actual NHL. Whole lot of depth on the forward side (and a couple impressive performances from some of them) gives a lot of goals. The defense is kind of thin with Ellis out but Forsling and Spurgeon both had career years (and Wideman, too, but that still really only makes him a 6th/7th d-man). Oettinger had a solid season but I'd hope for more out of Georgiev in the future. Overall, a solid team; they'd likely make the playoffs pretty easily, but I doubt they'd be a true contender.

e: I don't really remember the cap situation but considering player ages, I think they could be good for a couple more years. Couple vets would probably have to get moved in the offseason, though. I dunno how long their window would really be.

Impressive how uh, mediocre, a team with Leon Draisaitl can be. I do suspect they'd be better than the Oilers sans-McDavid, but that's mostly because of Saros. Lundell was an incredible pick and is absolutely going to be an important piece in the future, but this is a team full of vets that is likely on the playoff bubble.

Reasonably happy with my team, I'm sure it's not winning any season sims, but it's far better constructed than last time I did this where there wasn't a whole lot of defence or checking lines..

By raw counting my goals are quite low, which is partly a function of nobody outside of who would have been my top line + Josi scoring more than 20, but also heaps of my guys missed time, with the above roster playing only 75% of the games of a full team, so factoring that in it would have been better, perhaps above average - that said some of those missed games were healthy scratches..

Two 90 point players is great, and I actually think Kuemper and Smith would have made a good actual tandem. Nick Schmaltz being almost a PPG on a terrible side (i'll be honest I never watched him play) means I would have had a pretty threatening top line/PP1. Once they were off the ice the threat level falls away an awful lot, but the bottom 9 would have atleast been reasonably safe defensively.

A deadline trade for a 2nd line threat would instantly make this team a whole lot better.

Now to do my gimmick team..

So this team might have one of the best defensive pairings (certainly looking forward), and Jason Robertson. 118 Goals!

6 of my forwards played more than 20 games... When I picked the gimmick I didn't anticipate other teams picking contract over ability as early as they did, which did mean there really weren't many ELC players left by the half way point who were going to actually play every game. End result is a third line that played a combined 36 games for a single assist!

Biggest surprise was Jeff Skinner (picked so I made cap, which i'm not sure I even did in the end..), and also Bob who proved the whole goalie voodoo thing.

My last gimmick team was the all time one per country team, that was great - this was dumb and bad. No stars.
