Both of these are working well for me, I've had them active for a few hours now. The weapon removal patch is huge. Was this a problem in CCO or the core game?
Huge in terms of file size or work? File size, yeah, it's big; work involved, very little. The patch adds about 20 characters worth of text to one script and takes all of two minutes to make.

It was a possible conflict I had been aware of for a very long time but had had no reports of problems, so I just let it be. See, the master followers script in FNV includes a failsafe section that will automatically add NPC's magical no-ammo weapons back into their inventory in case they lose them somehow. Since I'm big on compatibility, I didn't want to alter any base content unless I had to. However, as soon as you guys said something, I knew right away where the issue was.

What was happening was that CCO would take the magical weapons away, then the failsafe would add them back in, and then CCO would take them away again, and so on. The patch just adds one very small conditional to prevent this from happening unless the user wants to use the magical weapons and has activated the token to do so. The huge file size is because, although only one small conditional was added, the GECK did have to recompile the entire master followers script, which is pretty big.

I grabbed the Extended New Vegas Radio Generator and converted two dozen songs from the 40s sure to also go through the mono-ogg process because I'm mostly sick of hearing about having spurs that go jingle jangle jingle from other people's radios.

I set the song number import value to 24 and also selected the option to add in the five cut songs. Should I have set it to 29 because of that option? 48 because of the oggs? 53 because of both?

Either way it's still the only song I ever hear and last night it bugged out and a casino's radio output followed me through loading screens (it was not selected on my pipboy).

This song has been in my head for days now and I need help :shobon:

What is the most likely reason that I would be crashing as soon as I enter the Gomorrah? As soon as I try to enter the front door or use coc to get in, I crash to desktop. If I use coc to enter a part other than the main area right beyond the front door, there's no problem. I don't believe I have any mods that could be causing this. Here's the list.

I don't think any of those listed would cause that. Have you been to Gomorrah in this playthrough before? Have you uninstalled any other mods since then? Changes made to cells by mods can make those cells unstable if they're removed later.

IWR = Invisible Wall Remover.

e: Also, I don't have those radio station extenders, but if they're anything like The Secret Stash you should only have one esp checked for each one. Like if you have the 100 song version just use MojaveExtended100.esp. Check the readme maybe because that seems weird.

SpookyLizard posted:

Also, question: does changing the name of a file severely gently caress stuff up? Like can i change <modname>.esp to <different>.esp and have poo poo be chill or will it cause massive explosions and the like?

Unless it's being referenced by another mod, no, changing the name of a standalone esp won't do anything except stop it from being recognised by BOSS.

No, and no.

Also:

Installation Instructions for Mojave Music Extended posted:

1.) Download whichever music packs you wish to use. Note that for each pack you want, you require the pack before it (e.g. if you want to use Pack 4, you will require 1, 2, and 3 as well.) Unpack them to your /fallout new vegas/Data directory.
2.) Download the ESPs file. Unpack it to the same directory.
3.) Tick the checkbox on for whichever playlist you wish to use. You only require one as each pack stands alone with its own complete list.

Wait, does that mean I have to choose one particular one of those options? Which checkbox does it mean when it says "the checkbox"?

fentan
Aug 3, 2012

In whatever mod manager you use, there should be a window with all the esps listed where you adjust load order. There should be checkboxes next to all of them, uncheck the ones you aren't using. Or just make your life easier by going into the data folder and deleting the ones you don't need. It sounds like you only need MBOWBExtended100.esp and MojaveExtended100.esp.

If fixing that doesn't solve your problem (it probably won't), try loading it with no mods at all. If that doesn't work, reinstall because I can't think of any other explanation than random corruption.

Beyond Boulder Dome. There's all sorts of places where trying to enter random huts can cause crashes for no reason whatsoever. I thought the whole thing was pretty bad, especially the ending, so my recommendation would just be to uninstall the drat thing. (If you absolutely need to play it, there may be patches on the mod's nexus page that might fix the issue)

Yeah, it was BBD and there is a patch, I had the same issue. I haven't gotten around to it since this is my first NV game on PC, would you mind saying what's bad about it? I'd like to know if it's really not worth my time but I can also be pretty forgiving of some shoddy mod work here and there. The horrible, horrible art they used on Nexus was a pretty big red flag so I'm morbidly curious if the art is a good indicator of the rest of the mod's quality.

In my opinion, Beyond Boulder Dome is an interesting concept completely ruined by shoddy game design and absolutely terrible writing. I made a post about it earlier in the thread, but the gist of it is that it's a very long, very difficult (Depending on what level you enter at, I did so at 18) slog with few rewards and an ending that's so bad it makes Fallout 3 look like Hemingway.

IT KEEPS HAPPENING
So first my Fallout 3 starts making GBS threads itself after a "clean" reinstall and remains broken after subsequent reinstalls, even without mods and now New Vegas just locks up at the loading screen when I try to start a new game.

Is there something about my computer that just... fundamentally undermines the gamebryo-engine Fallout games? Could it be some program conflict? I hadn't even done anything to my FNV install and haven't been using any mods other than jsawyer.

edit: I'm a little suspicious that it's a Windows 8 thing? If for no other reason than that I remember how much difficulty Fallout 3 started having when I first upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista until people figured out the necessary .ini tweaks.
