That weird C6 clutch spring is driving me insane but I'm starting to get used to it. As for cleanliness, the dealership waxed the hell out of it, so for now it's doing pretty good. You might notice my driveway is gravel. That's actually incorrect, it's so old that the gravel has become pulverized rock dust. It's been raining for days here, and so far the only mud on my car is the little splash-ups right behind the wheels.

Gorgeous car, but is there any reason why you'd pick a license plate from Havelberg of all places?

I had no idea it was from Havelberg, whats that place like? I saw a European plate on a B5 RS4 that said "HN-UT 620" and didn't want my plate saying "NUT" on it, so I changed it to a "V" This is the photo I saw years ago when ordering the plate:

Even though it's more attractive than the stock grill, that gap under the hood is driving me crazy. Looks like a great time. So, technically this isn't my car anymore, but I owned this black 2002 Monte Carlo from October 2001 ( Keep America Rolling!) until this past June when I sold it to my neighbor. It's nice because I still get to see it parked right across from my house every day. Last night though, some 17 year old kid stole a relative's leased BMW, picked his girlfriend up in our neighborhood about 100 meters away, then thought he'd show off by zooming through a road with parked cars on each side. He smashed into the neighbor's Sentra (only 23k miles on it) which pushed it up onto the curb and into my old Monte Carlo. He tried to drive away, but the car only made it about 60 feet past, at which point he ran away on foot but of course the girlfriend ratted him out and was caught later that night. So here's hoping the insurance pays to get the car fixed so I can keep seeing it around instead of him having to buy some used Corolla with whatever they would pay to just junk it.

GramCracker posted:Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it. The way German license plates work is that the one to three letters before the dash signify the city or administrative district the car is registered in and everything after that is random unless you specify what you want (always following the pattern: one or two letters and up to three numbers). Havelberg is pretty small, so there aren't many cars registered there, that's why it piqued my interest. Of course if I had to pick any license plate from Germany right now, it'd be DI-AL 911. e: I guess for maximum German-ness it should be DI-AL 110. Rhyno posted:Too general! Ok so after a few days I can give you a better answer. It pretty much fits me like a glove. The clutch is lighter than the mini so that is taking some getting used to. It's also a little weird to see 3,000 RPM and be moving at like 10mph in first. Rev matching took some getting used to since there is a lot more RPM to work with and I gotta put my foot down a little harder/longer. Backing up is a little harder since there is a blind spot kind of. Where the back window was on the Mini is just convertible top here. A lot of people bemoan the lack of torque, but I don't notice it at all. Probably because the Mini had right around the same number stock, so I had a little more but I'm not noticing a huge difference. I still haven't tore into any corners, but I am getting a little braver. Having real headlights is amazing, Xenons are sooooooo much better than the stock halogens on the Mini. I don't like not having a way to plug my phone into the radio right now, but it's not a huge deal and I can fix that later. I do miss the gas mileage on the Mini, but I knew what I was getting into. S2K is good on the highway though, I got like 31mpg on the way home doing around 70 the whole way. Despite being a rag top it still makes less noise the the mini did with all the squeaks and sunroof rattling. I have gotten some interesting looks from people in BMW's and stuff and the "thats a honda???" from my friends dad You should get one of these instead of a MSM

Quoted for the drat truth. I absolutely love looking in the engine bay of nearly any 4-cylinder Honda car. The older stuff is definitely my favorite; B-series and H-series vtec engine bays with a bit of work done to them can be straight porn. I even like the singles, while no where near as interesting, they still hold appeal to me for some reason. Every day I drive my current, non-Honda car is every day I miss owning a Honda with a strong vtec crossover. I would still own a 1992-1995 Honda Civic hatchback with a B or H series motor swapped in if could, problem is if you leave them parked outside for too long in any one place chances are the car is going to get stolen.
