My brother and I are big fans of speedrunning (I love Tiki's Mega Man runs, and he tends to like speedruns with commentary, like the AGDQ runs). He has been putting a lot of time into speedrunning Mercenaries for the PS2.

His Twitch channel is:

http://www.twitch.tv/appar1tion

Here's his request to me to help spread the word via the SA forums:

"I'm currently routing and practicing a mercenaries any percent run on the ps2. The game has tons of tricks and optimizations and it should be fun to watch. I would really appreciate if anyone wants to stop by and check out my stream. Thanks."

If you're on Twitch, stop by his channel and leave some feedback. Thanks goons!

Yeah, and Demoon is a more dedicated and devoted runner for TWW. He deserves the record and I'm glad he got it. Now to hope for new discoveries.

Also Calebhart beat his MMX WR by 2 seconds. Today is a good day for speedgaming.

She's streamed more than that, just not doing real runs but a lot of practice and messing around with out of bounds glitches.

I don't think that's true at all. Every time I've looked at his stream in the last few months it's been Twilight Princess. That's part of the reason the old record stood for so long.

I wouldn't quite say that. I don't think you should compare dedication either way, considering this is the same thing Cosmo fans were doing in Demon's chat that I didn't like. They're both very dedicated and talented speedrunners, both/either deserve the record, and I'm glad there's competition because it makes them both better.

Yes I believe the day before he got the TP 100% WR (even though there's only actually 5 entries to it). But for a little bit before that he was playing WW again I believe.

I wish at some point WW, TP and SS will get totally broken like OoT or something. It's kinda amazing how a 100% OoT isn't that much slower than or still faster than any% of the other ones. And gently caress 8+ hours of a 100% run for those.

Unless someone discovers a wrong warp, the only huge sequence break in WW would be the mythical barrier skip. That link details why it's currently impossible. Even if it's eventually done, you have to skip Puppet Ganon somehow or the game locks up.

I'd like to see a co-op run with two Game Boys, a copy each of Red & Blue, and two runners. And there could be two ways of doing this: get all 150 Pokemon between the two of them, or get all 150 each. I probably wouldn't be able to watch if either of them were ragers, though.

It's pretty much what they did.

quote:

There must be 150 pokemon captured on both the Red and Blue Cart. The run is over when both runners have received their diploma from the GameFreak Employee in the Celadon Condos

The Pokemon Red runner will be setting up a dummy file to get bulbasaur and jolteon. Once he has these pokemon he will trade them to Blue, and start a new file to get charmander.
