horriblePencilist posted:I'm hoping this is the right thread for this, but I'm really starting to get into Glitch-Hop. I discovered it on accident while browsing internet radio stations and really got a kick out of it because it's scratching all the right spots for me – strong hook, elaborate instrumentation, great synths, effects up the wazoo and more. I still know next to nothing about the genre (such as prominent artists etc) but I'm listening to compilations and so far I heard some really cool stuff. I dig some glitch hop, too. Here's some stuff that I like: KOAN Sound, a duo on Skrillex's OWSLA label, is the group that introduced me to glitch hop. I think that most of their stuff is dubstep, but they've released a bunch of glitch hop, too. My favourites are "Funk Blaster" and "Eastern Thug". If you like them, then look for their Funk Blaster EP and Adventures of Mr. Fox EP and their remix of Skrillex. Pegboard Nerds are another couple of guys who make glitch hop, too. You might like "We Are One" and "Frainbreeze". Kill Paris' remix of Kill the Noise's "Saturn" and Branx's "Smoove Operator" are a little slower, but I like them as well. Also, I don't know if this counts as glitch hop, but "Head/Off" by Sebastian is probably my favourite song, so I have to recommend it.

For you Dirtybird fans, here is Claude VonStroke's BBC Essential mix (it's very good - mostly 4-on-the-floor housey stuff): https://soundcloud.com/claudevonstroke/vonstroke-2013-essential-mix Also, it looks like no one has recently talked about my absolutely favorite artist, so I am going to post his two most recent mixes: -Bassnectar's Immersive Music Mix, Side 1 -Bassnectar's Immersive Music Mix, Side 2 I only first heard of Bassnectar in October of last year, but I immediately fell in love with his music and have seen him perform 4 times since. So I've been really getting into The M Machine lately. Saw them in Atlanta a couple weekends ago and I'm pretty sure I'm in love with them. Some tracks I'm particularly fond of: The Palace Ghosts in the Machine Promise Me A Rose Garden And here's a mix I've been listening to a lot: Space Jams Honestly one of my favorite artists right now. Can't really get enough of them.

In another he's made a Deamau5 track, there's some Nero in another, a touch of Wolfgang Gartner, a bit of Zedd. It's all really derivative of other artist's works and the sad thing is he chose to copy styles of huge producers rather than the amazing little bedroom ones that are doing some really nice different stuff. This is the best I've found of his on youtube and even this is arguably Empire of the Sun/Miami Horror/Breakbot/Daft Punk/DatA mashed up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frUrcP70ckQ

The track you linked was very Skrillex/KillTheNoise in both synths/presets used and indeed little touches like samples and such. Even his artwork is massively If you mention who you like you'll get recommendations on similar, this thread has turned me on to some really great producers in the past after I'd flung out some names.
