Probably not and it's just whatever due to alternate dimension craziness. Similarly why did the Lucky Charms Leprechaun/Trix Rabbit hybrid have a strawberry theme for their cereal? "Don't think about it." I'm guessing that Dany's presence is just a way to make the parody more recognizable to the majority of viewers who're only going to see it for about a second. I enjoyed this episode! I definitely understand what people mean by saying it feels up its own rear end, and some of the segments were misses for me, but I laughed pretty hard at fakedoors.com and Ants In My Eyes Johnson. I also liked that we got a little more time with the rest of the family and hopefully put the kibosh on the divorce will-they-or-won't they plot that's been the focus of their stories this season. Listening to Harmon and Roiland crack up in their recordings reminded me of when I used to watch Sifl & Ollie. They had the same kind of giggly, improvised delivery a lot of the time too.

I wish there was more television like this episode. It was definitely hit or miss, but the 'hit' parts were incredible and I almost fell off my chair laughing at Ants-In-My-Eyes-Johnson, Strawberry Smiggles, and fakedoors.com

I thought this episode was rad, probably some of the funniest stuff I've seen in ages. I didn't really like the drawn-out gross-out skits (ants in my eyes and the leprechaun one) but still. The TV stuff is a different kind of humour to what the show does normally, but it's not Family Guy by any stretch. The "loose, improvisational tone" line at the start tells you to expect something a bit more free-form and silly, sort of a "goofing off with friends" mindset instead of the usual polish, and then the Two Brothers trailer (with all the rambling and the cracking up) really epitomises that tone to demonstrate. Did anyone else have the exact same reaction as Rick when the fakedoors.com ad wrapped back around to being an ad again? I don't really want to analyze why that blew me away, but it really did.

I don't know what it says about me that I didn't even notice that they were satirizing television or going up their own rear end or whatever with the interdimensional TV. I just thought the ridiculous movie premises and a guy selling furniture with ants in his eyes was funny. Also the fact that it was so obviously ad-libbed and you knew they just had a great time recording all of it. I liked it better than the last episode (which is sort of the low point for me so far-- not very low, of course, but eh), and the added bits of continuity were nice. I do hope this is the end of the Jerry/Beth drama at least for a while. That B-plot seems to work in some episodes, but not all.

Unlike Morty, Rick is supposed be experienced when it comes to suspending his disbelief (telling him to "let's just see where it goes from here") and anticipate the unusual, so he shouldn't be all that excited about a commercial being interrupted by a non sequitur. This episode is probably my favorite so far; haven't laughed so hard in ages!

I can't stop turning to my brother and proclaiming "I'm Gazorpazorp-loving-field, bitch!" I am certainly of the mind that this is the best new comedy on TV, and that's in our reality, where Brooklyn 99 exists. So if you don't like this show you must be some kind of stupid idiot and blah blah blah nothing matters let's just enjoy TV (or not or whatever who cares?)

So, Summer has to find or create her own purpose and place in reality just like everyone. I think the main point for Beth and Jerry is that they'll tend to be desperately unhappy in every universe. They'll just be less so if they're together. This is a good way to look at it, I'm going to rewatch the episode with that in mind and see how it fits. It's a shame those skits are more miss than hit for me, since its the driving force behind the episode. I was expecting something nihilistic for the ending, but there has been a trend of the two getting back together at the end of every episode. He can't feel anything, like ants crawling into and onto his eyes. Family Guy is bad because they do the scene cuts every episode, often without any real purpose. This was more akin to an Anthology of Interest, a single episode break in format. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a gag or two in the future with the multiversal cable (since someone is almost always watching TV in the family), but don't expect another plot-less episode for awhile.

The crazy non sequitur bullshit comes full circle and becomes directly relevant to the framing story, which then after the credits drives more non sequitur bullshit. Not only that, they managed to bring events from a previous episode into the actual plot, where before we haven't seen anything come back except "wubba lubba dub dub;" AND they might have resolved the recurring impending divorce subplot. They out-futuramaed Futurama and subverted their encroachment into Family Guy territory. VideoTapir fucked around with this message at 14:13 on Mar 19, 2014 |

I'll never understand why there's always a significant percentage of people in game topics, TV topics, movie topics, you name it, who will say the newest thing is the worst thing ever. But then the next one will come out, and they'll be back again, without fail, complaining. I once pointed this out on Television Without Pity and then I got banned. ~~~ That said, can someone explain why when the plot kept randomly changing second by second on the Meseeks episode, it was OK, but when it's done here (and with an actual cohesive reason for it, this time) it's not OK? Better yet: Don't think about it.

Just relax and enjoy it. The Giant fell and killed himself so his wife called the cops who blamed it on R&M. They then had to go to court and were released on a technicality. Because Morty was insistent on finishing the adventure they began climbing down the giant sized steps and found a bar. They decided to see what was going on inside and when Morty went to the bathroom he was assaulted. Seems pretty straightforward.

Waltzing Along posted:Seems pretty straightforward. I think what Veryslightlymad was getting at was that each scene was very different from the last and the changes were very rapidfire, the thing is that I feel like those events were far from random and were pretty heavily plot-driven. If anything I'd say the different locations were necessitated by the story, instead of having the story be built around these various unconnected concepts like in this one. I can see where all the lolsorandom complaints are coming from, and the comparisons to Family Guy, but Rixty Minutes is obviously an exercise in coming up with ideas for TV shows that are funny for about ten seconds but can't really sustain themselves for any longer than that. Family Guy and (especially) Robot Chicken tend to make pop culture references the core of their comedy, and while this episode does that a little, the concept is different, the approach is different, and the results are notably better.

I couldn't enjoy this last episode, it felt too indulgent on the part of the showrunners. I can imagine Roiland, Harmon and co finding all those bits funny in the moment they were improvised, but for me they were just painful to watch.
