I love how mentions how dad always looked after it, and how well maintained it is, but it has a massive crap exhaust hanging out the back of it, plus the blacked out tail lights.

Larrymer posted:How is a lovely zip tied front bumper WRX in Michigan (rust) with 170k and a blown motor worth $5500? (Drift charm not included.) Last year when I was looking for a used Evo 9 / STi the most annoying thing was how highly these people valued their cars when they had serious issues. That and people listing their bugeye WRX as a WRX STi just because they had an STi engine engine swap and some stickers on the front bumper.

This guy kind of seems like he knows what he's talking about, but the amount of "this has added value from all my sick modz" is pretty gag-inducing, not to mention the "no test drives without cash in hand." Also, it's got a lifetime warranty... on the battery! And the tint! But yo, those JDM components don't come with it, those have been swapped to my sick new ride! He says the headgaskets were replaced with the "turbo" gaskets, does that really help at all? http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/cto/4499524868.html All in all, par for the course in uptown. wilfredmerriweathr fucked around with this message at 06:12 on Jun 20, 2014 |

In a sense, yeah. The old style head gaskets are known for causing issues, either blowing early or around the 100k mark (although contaminated or wrong coolant is also a big factor), the newer turbo-style gaskets are multi layer steel and should last the lifetime of the car, much less prone to failure.

They've been crazy for a while. I got 14k TRADE IN for my 07 wrx wagon with 90k on it in 2012. (And bought the car I traded it in for well below invoice, so it wasn't any of those kind of shenanigans.) I still hosed up. I wish I still had it.

That interior is one of the nicer ones I have seen on a CL kit car fiero though. Something about the wheel well/gaps look off too. I guess I kind of get the Lambo/Ferrari kit car thing, but if you were going to spend that kind of money on the body, why not spend a little more a put some horsepower. I'm sure a supercharged GM V6 can be swapped into a Fiero for a reasonable amount now a days

It jumped up from a stop with some pep, and went around corners surprisingly nicely, just a touch of the wheel. A/C works too and it's got new Firestones. This fucker is clean; the biggest problem I could find was that the rear driver's side window won't go up without a little lifting by hand. The smog test is 93 days old, so the owner is getting it tested again tomorrow, then I'll be buying it

Few require any major surgery and they're all cheap to do. So yeah.
