The update is awesome. The UI improvements are a godsend. eg - if you're going through your possible revenges to find a target, hitting 'end battle' now takes you back to the list, at the point you left it. No more going back in, and scrolling down forever! Generally most situations where the menu would reset on you in an annoying way are now fixed.

I just dropped 4 Valks into a CW fight and was pretty underwhelmed, but it's probably because mine are still level 1.

Has anyone bothered upgrading them yet?

Oh, and the new behavior of the royals is going to make attacking so much more difficult :gonk:

We're going to have to find out new bases and strategies, the game is quite a bit different. I'm guessing we will be using anti-air bases instead of anti-hog ones. BK is pretty bad at breaking through walls now.

I had this problem as well. Trying freeing up some disk space and it should install fine.

I woke up to having all my purple drank storage maxed, and still having a ton of drank in collectors. I already upgraded everything I can with Drank for TH8. :(


I guess it's the games way of telling me to do more attacks.

From what I understand the Valk update definitely helps her break buildings more than anything else https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsCfaHT_Pvk .

Right now, I'm still good with sending nothing but dragons in clan wars with 3x lightning spell for the best placed/highest leveled AD.

The new defensive range on BK is comically small. You can seriously kill buildings immediately adjacent to him and he'll stare at you with a (?) over his head. The AQ is slightly better since she's ranged, but due to the HP nerf she dies almost instantly. I moved my AQ to the core, and threw my BK outside my base on sleep mode.

Also the royals healing is not stopped by inferno towers, which is pretty nice actually.

Honestly, I'm not sure what people were expecting. If he had the range of your entire base so you could place him in the center and he couldn't be lured outside of the walls he would be OP as gently caress.

Before he had a huge range and would be lead out and unceremoniously dispatched. Now he's a 2k hp short range defensive structure. Put him by your DE, maybe he'll tank for a few seconds while your other defenses kill troops. :shrug:

Heroes: The New Battle Specialists

The time has come for a smarter, more strategic brand of heroes. Rather than being foolish, hulking brutes, the King and Queen are now much smarter on defense, have distinct strengths and weaknesses, and their abilities are more important than ever.

✔ The heroes have gotten sick and tired of being lured out and squashed in the edges of the map. Now, they only attack targets in a limited territory around their platform and will retreat if they get drawn away too far.

✔ Both heroes now get a damage increase and recover health when activating an ability. Use the damage boost to get an edge over defending heroes, or the healing to save them from the clutches of defeat!

✔ Hero abilities now improve much more significantly with each new ability level and summon more supporting troops than before. The best way to make your hero stronger when attacking is to increase their ability level!

✔ Hitpoints and damage for the Queen and hitpoints for the King have been slightly increased at lower levels. However, hero hitpoints and damage have been decreased at higher levels in order to balance heroes on defense and allow for stronger abilities.

✔ The effect of Rage Spells on Heroes has been reduced to put more emphasis on the skillful use of hero abilities. For the Queen and later levels of the King, bonus damage from hero abilities will far exceed bonus damage from Rage Spells. As before, Rage Spell bonus damage and hero ability bonus damage will not stack (the greater of the two takes precedent).

Barbarian King: The Tank Specialist

✔ His damage has been reduced, but he now can heal himself greatly when using his Iron Fist ability.

✔ The Barbarian horde summoned by Iron Fist has doubled in size to cause even more mayhem!

✔ Use Iron Fist at the right time to help the King take more damage than he ever could before!



Archer Queen: The Damage Specialist

✔ Her hitpoints have been reduced in later levels, but the Queen now gains a tremendous damage boost while her Royal Cloak ability is active.

✔ The duration of Royal Cloak has been greatly increased in lower levels to help make sure the Queen has enough time to land her most powerful of shots.

✔ Use Royal Cloak at the right time to help the Queen hit important targets harder than she ever could before!



Jump Spell: Control the Battle Flow

The Jump Spell used to only affect troops it landed on, often leading to disappointing results. Now, the Jump Spell influences all troops in the battle. Masters of the Jump Spell will be able to direct their melee troops like never before!

✔ All troops you deploy can take advantage a Jump Spell, even if the troops are not directly hit by the spell.

✔ Casting a Jump Spell will now cause troops to redirect themselves immediately if it opens up a more advantageous route close by.

✔ The Jump Spell area has been slightly reduced to allow for more precise control of the spell.

The Valkyrie rarely used to put her area-damage to any good use. Now, that has changed in a big way, and you might be shocked by her effectiveness in battle.

It's better to stick your AQ there if you have one, she will comfortably shoot over two walls ruining the attackers poo poo. I've relegated my BK to clearing duty on tougher bases, and save the AQ for minor 50%ing to ensure she is active for defenses. I'll see how things go but so far so good.

You can't hog bases with an active central AQ anymore, even after the defenses are down the hogs will switch to the closest targets (buildings). Previously hogs would prioritize heros over buildings but now they don't :downs:

The best undocumented change is that when nexting through enemies it maintains your zoom level. Now you can see the whole picture right away and have fewer accidental troop drops.

I'm going to be testing out tryhard valk based armies over the next week to see if they're worthwhile. Problem is my valks, golems and jump spells are all L1. First round of testing is one golem, 20 wizs, 11 valks, 2 bloons (to lure cc), 6 WB, 1 heal 1 jump 2 rage. I'll try different valk/golem ratios, swapping out some wizs for witches, and the spell configs and report back with any successes i may have.

...this army takes over 2 hours to make :(

Well that's going to kill a bunch of people in clan wars.

edit: Or keep them alive rather. There's probably no more need for hog ring bases if the AQ can just shoot at them with impunity while being ignored. I imagine this kills a lot of balloon strategies as well.

Has anyone tried the new jump spell with a dragon horde? Does the magnet effect even work on air troops? The biggest drawback of dragons is that they're big lumbering retards that are happy to be widdled down by air defense as the meander aimlessly around the base. The ability to direct them straight to the ADs would make them much more effective.

Watching the youtube SC put out makes me think that this won't effect air troops because the spell is based around ground troops and walls. Air troops won't change direction because they will already be on the path that takes them directly to their next target since they aren't hindered by walls.

This works surprising well. Everyone in spergs is actually pretty cool and I don't mind losing (we rarely do) if the participation is really high (it always is).

Test number one with this army was... okay, I guess? I was an idiot with jump spell placement, but troops did stop what they were doing to use it.

Valks I noticed have a problem with their new AI. They make an effort to head between buildings before they begin swinging, but they adjust their targets too often. They would shuffle in between two buildings, and before they started swinging one of the two would be destroyed by other troops. Instead of attacking the second one, they would re-adjust their position again. The net effect of this was that they ran around in circles for more than half the battle trying to get JUST THE PERFECT SPOT while wizards did all the actual work.

I do think that they could put in some good work if they were leveled up and had a rage spell, but it's quite a hefty DE investment for a troop that takes loving forever to train.

I've been playing for nearly 5 months and I decided to actually wait until I had everything upgraded to max before upgrading my Town Hall for once
It's taking forever, I still have 80% of my walls to upgrade to Lv. 6 and then the Clan Castle. I still haven't spent a dime on this game though, which is fine. I want to support the game, but at the same time, I don't want to buy gems

By clearing trees, gem boxes and achievements (e.g. - getting to 1250 trophies), you should be able to maintain a healthy number of gems for free.

Last report had SuperCell taking $2.4mil per day. It's likely gone up since then.

If you don't buy gems, the game isn't going anywhere. Freemium games don't need support in this way, they just need to catch a few whales and they're fine.

However if you don't have many gems from the means posted above, and a free-boosts special comes around, buy enough to boost through it. It's definitely worth it.
