Yeah...I only consider Compile Heart responsible for their OWN games being bad, and the solution to that is simple.

I am more resentful of the drought of worthwhile Japanese games Compile Heart is causing by giving Japanese games a bad name in general.

And here I thought Zorak had created a mindset in that SA hates creepy pandering games and anime.

Compile Heart is just a symptom of malaise in the Japanese game biz, not a cause.

The theme of 5 is "dreams". Haruka wants to be an idol, Kiryu wants a life away from crime, the new guy Shinada wants back into pro baseball, and so on. It's way different than the previous ones, and has no real connection to anything else, but I really liked it.

Yeah, although they start beating you over the head with the theme at the end, it was really good. I loved the variety of the different cities too, even though some of them felt rushed (like Sapporo, oh man). The end did have a certain "oh poo poo, how do we wrap this up?" feel to it, though

Yeah, Sapporo is the only one of those cities I have lived in, and same as with Infamous SS, it didn't give me a single twinge like I had been there before.

FYI, if you are in US and looking to import, Amazon has really good pricing on Ishin and Y5. I snagged Ishin for $49 and Yakuza 5 for $33 with Prime Shipping. You could get similar pricing elsewhere but will have to wait a few weeks for shipping vs it being there in 2 days.

Sega is giving me some major incentive to pick up my Kanji learning up again. RTK or Kanji Learning Course, what shall I go for this time?! :)

Yeah, I have that through textfugu, but was normally going through RTK, and then Anki vocal decks and readers. Will give it a shot again.

You can't run through Y5 with a canon! Anyways, I agree, but already got both and having another game on PS4 is a plus.

Been using Wanikani for a year and 3 months. Level 32! It's honestly the best kanji learning tool I've used. Though I do actually have a class I go to after work once a week.

I messed up and got Ishin at a local book-off, it was used, only $30 if I remember correctly. I'm gonna go back and see if they have Y5 now.

I guess there was no way they could have delivered a satisfying ending after all that but I was a little disappointed with it.

But guys! XSEED just ruined any chance of Sega considering a Yakuza localization in the future!

Same way Nickelback made Fallout 2 not use a Louis Armstrong song because America music sucks!

Or something! As a concerned fan, I must say this is much concerning!

e: also, what is the deal with Sony killing the Vita because of this game? They haven't shown anything on Gamescom or E3! I'm concerned Zoe Quinn and XSEED killed the Vita!

Ok, enough of that nonsense. The new Yakuza game will be revealed in two days from now: August 24, 21:00 Japan time on this Niconico stream.

And because Yakuza is a game with no pandering to lonely nerds, the studio published a "Sexy Actress Popularity Contest" full of rear end shots and whatnot.

Oh Yakuza is the reason behind it all. The great Japanese game they refuse to localize because creepy poo poo that Nisa and Xseed publishes makes publishers with more money than Nisa and Xseed nervous to localize their games. So while games that improves Japan's rep overseas doesny make it here. The games that creep out and disgust reviewers do.

Games like Saints Row had porn stars as voice and occasionally likeliness used. Or is JAV stars another kind of taboo?

I will be honest though, I thought SA was always the site that stood against creepy neckbeards and games like Akiba's trip are part of the problem

Welp, it looks like Nagoshi's not going to push things any further after 5 so we're going to take a trip back in time. Yakuza Zero is the next game in the series. PS3 and PS4, will probably be all about Kiryu, Nishiki, and Yumi's excellent adventures.

Wow, that means it takes place in the early 90s. It could be a somewhat different kind of game. Also, Kiryu wasn't the same person before he went to prison. I mean, he was actually a gangster rather than someone trying to get away from that life.

If that ends up being true, I wonder what that actually means from a gameplay perspective. Kazuma was a sort-of badass, but he wasn't the super-badass that we knew and have watched him grow into over the games. And it's hard to say how much of a fighter Nishiki was. I mean, yeah, they can rewrite things however they want as far as gameplay goes and have you do all kinds of awesome poo poo so the game is fun, but there will be a disconnect there when you think about it.

Maybe it'll actually be a game where you play as a young Fuma/Kazama and tote around lil' Kiryu, Nishiki, and Yumi.
