What card is closest to recurring nightmare in effect? Is there any other effect that does a similar thing, and is preferably an enchantment?

There are a couple of enchantments that revive, like Animate Dead, Dance of the Dead, Necromancy and Diabolic Servitude. If you mean repeatable reanimation, Whip of Erebos and Debtor's Pulpit are repeated reanimation. But, Recurring Nightmare is extremely unique. All I can offer are compromises.

I think I'm just going to say screw it and play recurring nightmare in my Karador deck. The synergies are just so synergistic, it's insane. I'll use the French ban list instead I think, which should put some more restrictions on what I can do.

So I finally got my Uril deck up and running, I don't have a list handy at the moment, but in testing I found a weakness. I currently have absolutely zero ways to interact with enchantments or artifacts. This is pretty clearly not a huge issue in terms of cards, but which are the best to run? I have a krosan grip and a hull breach, and the usual suspects in erase, naturalize, and disenchant. I also have the comedy option soltari visionary who is both an answer to some enchantments as well as an evasive beater if I need to suit someone up other than Uril. What other things should I be considering? I'd like to avoid global enchantment wipes for obvious reasons. I'm aware of the global wipe that returns all my enchantments to the battlefield if I have threshold but in testing I've never really hit threshold that often.

Aura Shards is amazing and every deck running GW so consider running it, unless you don't have many creatures.

As far as GWR decks go, this one is pretty creature light. The game plan is to play Uril, suit him up into a monster, and then punch people into submission. Yesterday I had him up to 81/79 trample flying double strike vigilance lifelink in addition to his inherent hexproof. Divine presence made all that essentially worthless beyond the double strike. I didn't have any way to get rid of it (or the web of inertia but that one isn't so bad) and had to just grind everything out six damage at a time. I'd rather not have to do that again.

I do have a bunch of mana dorks that I may or may not need and several enchantresses along with a few random dudes to suit up alongside Uril, but certainly not a ton.

So I just counted, I have 26 creatures in total, counting everything that could even possibly be a creature like the 2/2 knight mode of selesnya charm and batterskull. I guess the heliod tokens and angels from Sigil of the Empty throne could also do it. I'll see if I can find one. I'll toss up a decklist in a minute to see what other cuts I should be making.

If you want a disenchant effect on a flying body (as a backup to drop auras onto), look up any card with Cloudchaser in its name.

I think you have enough creatures for Aura Shards. Disenchant is good, you may also want to run Unravel the Aether and Deglamer - tucking is almost as good as destroying even in Commander, and they'll get rid of pesky Gods cheaply. Return to Dust is nice, too, if you're willing to pay the cost, and Decimate is great value, though it needs a valid target of each type to be cast. If you do run it, make sure to get the Odyssey version. GRUUL LASERS PEW PEW

Actually putting this in here has shown me that my mana is way off, I need fewer mountains (probably) and a few more forests/plains.

I'm also considering removing the equipment portion of the deck, as much as I love the equipment I have. Alternatively I could add in a sword of fire and ice to give me another spicy target to tutor up.

I have a spirit mantle and a dragon style twins that I'd like to add, but I'm not sure what to cut. Holy mantle for spirit mantle makes sense, but I'm not what to cut for the twins. Maybe the twinclaws?

The rest of the maybeboard cards are either things I want to add but don't have (Conscription, rector) or stuff I'm considering for one reason or another, like the enchantment removal that I need.

Thassa herself is amazing as a general, there's really no way to overstate how useful her upkeep scry is over the course of the game. But always being able to get damage through is what puts the deck over the top. If I can't just islandwalk through, Thassa sees to it.

I'll point out some of my favorites that aren't so obvious:

Walking Sponge- this little guy paired with your indestructible general can be really great. When facing down huge tramplers or flyers he helps Thassa tank for you all day.

Floodgate- Can single handedly hold off token armies, and when it gets paired with Deadeye Navigator, can be a one-sided board wipe.

Submerge- There's usually green at the table, and nothing beats sending a troublesome creature or general to the top of the library in response to a shuffle effect

Chromeshell Crab - This has saved me countless times. Once, someone cheated Iona into play naming blue on turn 3, thinking I would be done for. Turns out that facedown creature I had was chromeshell crab, and the tables were quickly turned.

The big strength of the deck is the number of mostly one-sided wipes it has. There are so many ways to either remove or return to hand all the creatures on the board except your own that you end up winning by casting one blowout after another, each time getting in a big chunk of damage without fearing reprisal. There's a little bit of countermagic support because lets face it, casting Krakens isn't cheap and there aren't any good ways to recur them.

Says in the OP that you can post the entirety of the deck, as long as it has some organization to it and a link to the deck. I prefer a full posted list myself, so I can stay on one page to look at the deck and comments someone makes. A small quibble though.

Yes. If an aura enters the battlefield without having been cast with a target, you must attach it to something it can legally enchant, if such a thing exists, before state-based actions are checked. (If there's nothing to enchant, then it slides into the graveyard like a dead aura.) This has weird side-effects - it can bypass shroud, for instance, but not Protection.

Excellent, so this is a good way to suit up, for instance, an argothian enchantress, much like stonehewer does.

Speaking of stonehewer, is it worth continuing to run the stonehewer/stoneforge along with the good equipment or should I focus on the enchantment version of voltron? I feel like diversifying my threats a little helps keep things more stable (avoiding single point failure conditions, whee!) but it's also several card slots that I could be using for other things. Thoughts?

I've been having insane fun with my Sliver Hivelord voltron build, but it's led to a few questions about some cards I'm considering. If I use Spreading Plague, does that work the way I hope, namely "Cast Spreading Plague, cast Sliver Hivelord, everyone else loses all their creatures."?

The other big play I was looking at was resetting the board except for Slivers with Worldslayer. Bonus if there's a Gemhide or Manaweft on the table when it happens.

That rule actually suggests that it remains in your library - since the aura isn't on the stack, that exception doesn't apply, so it just stays in the zone it's already in.

Has anyone had any luck building an Athreos deck? I've been looking longingly at that card for a while.

Bad EXP received

When that works it gets somewhere, but in nearly every other case I just had a few 1/1s on the board and some demons chillin' in my hand while my opponent let their life tick down because, gently caress it, they aren't in any danger!

There's a possibility of a deck in Shadowborn Apostle nonsense, but I didn't have the patience to figure it out.

I'm sure you can stick an Athreos somewhere in there.

I run an Athreos hatebears+extort dudes deck. With only a few exceptions creatures curve out at 3CMC and the deck average CMC is 3.2. It's sort of an aggro deck (because you generally have a t1, t2, t3 creature) but it is totally ok when board wipes happen because each creature you lose is a lightning bolt to the dome of an opponent. It adds up really fast as long as you're able to keep your hand full, which is where draw from cards like Greed and Dark Prophecy actually become pretty important. One of the worst topdeck mode decks I've ever played, though. I don't have a list, but this gives you a place to start and the deck mostly builds itself on this theme. It's fun to play!
