In my now stupid "Friedman isn't going anywhere" post I mentioned the ownership stake. So I wonder how everything is going to shake out in regards to that.

You write that jokingly, but I'm sure a bunch of people are going to do the GM version of the "player has left my team" flowchart, citing the lovely David Price trade as evidence that the Rays are better off without him.

Yadier Molina has caught well over 10,000 innings in his career. His CS% over that time is 45%. That would be 2nd best in the majors in 2014, trailing only Yadier Molina.

He's never caught Billy Hamilton though.

An article posted yesterday by the Tampa Bay Times said he did not, in fact have an ownership stake, despite it being reported by multiple others.

If what Kevin Goldstein used to say about him is right, that he had a lot of smart baseball people around him and he was just good at understanding how to interpret them, then it isn't a guarantee he'll be a genius in LA. Money can cover a lot of mistakes, though. I think what they really need is a manager that won't antagonize Kemp and/or Puig.

I can't wait to eat my words when he trades Crawford to Seattle in December.

I think the Dodgers do have a lot of smart baseball people, the guy in charge of them was a doofus.

edit: Not only is Logan White generally considered a smart baseball guy, they went on hiring spree and got a lot of well regarded scouts from other clubs right after the Guggenheim group took over.

I've seen games go perfect for 12 innings all for naught. I've seen no-hitters pitched on illicit drugs. Homer streaks lasting eight games and 20 run losses. I've seen pennants won and seasons collapse. All these memories will be lost in time. Like tears in the rain.

Time to die.

The big thing Molina does is prevent people from even trying to steal so going from that to AJP is going to be a huge difference. This year alone people tried to steal 44 times with a 52% success rate in 940 innings against Molina and 38 times with a 79 percent success rate against Cruz and Pierzynski in 510 innings.

The Giants don't steal. And their fast guys are never even on base.

Can you imagine Jarrod Dyson getting brought into a game, and Mike Matheny going "OH YEA?" and removing AJP and putting in Yadi as a defensive replacement?

It'd be hilarious.

This is the only scenario in which carrying 3 catches would be excusable (other than the hindsight that Yadi's injury justified it).
