MrLonghair posted:I recommend Tokyo Encounter if you can find it (some subber group should be on livejournal). A pair of voice-actors with good taste, knowledge and ability in games goofing off, joking, having fun. Next pair of episodes coming this month. Thanks for this, I found it very enjoyable (pretty much watched all of them in a single day). Shame that first season is in such horrible quality, but the newest releases are great. It is quite different from CX, but I really think the faster pace of that show (plus maybe the fact that they are two or more while playing) makes it work a bit better for games I don't know anything about.

Hamada's was way worse than Matsumoto's, but I think Tanaka's might have been the worst because it was just so cringe worthy.

Here's another "I think you'll like this" episode featuring a female guest, Tomochika. If you don't recognize her maybe that's because she's not wearing glasses and delivering pizza to the wrong address in a batsu! http://kaizensubs.blogspot.co.nz/2014/08/gaki-no-tsukai-i-think-you-like-this-3.html e: also much like shopping for any woman this is an episode of just lessening degrees of failure and no real success. So when is Cocorico going to take over for Matsumoto and Hamada? They've been complaining about the games for so long I'm surprised they're still a part of it.

Their complaining only makes the games funnier. I hope they stay on until they're in their 70's.

I'm ready to see Downtown take over as running the torture, personally. Keep cameras on them of course, so we can watch Matsumoto lose his poo poo every time they fall for his traps. Involve them in the less physical parts too, whatever. I'm sure those dudes are going to end up getting some new kind of rear end disorder discovered and named for them eventually.
|
# ? Nov 16, 2014 19:43 |
|
Yeah, especially now that Matsumoto's knee/leg problems prevent him from doing anything too athletic I'd also like to see Downtown transition into more of a sinister mastermind role. Ameagari Kesshitai or License could fill the void in the batsu crew. It would be cool to see Downtown working together as the punishers rather than against each other.

# ? Nov 16, 2014 20:10 |

The Batsu games have always been the best when either member of Downtown was at the helm punishing others. Perhaps both now would make it even better.
|
# ? Nov 18, 2014 13:40 |

Those batsu were carried specifically because the other person was in there being the catalyst for everything. Those were punishment games for Hamada or Matsumoto and if other members were along that's fine too. It's not that I don't think they could get like a Lincoln group of people to do a batsu, it's just that Hamada and Matsumoto carry them so well it's just not going to be as fun.
|
# ? Nov 18, 2014 13:58 |

I just want them to mix up the formula somehow. The new year specials have been stagnating for a couple of years, recycling way too many elements. Having Downtown behind the scenes and getting some new blood to keep Cocorico company would be nice and fresh.

So the batsu just ended, thoughts: No Jimmy, Chiaki or Shin Onii was disappointing, and in general, the entire show was probably the weakest of more recent formulaic style they've gone with. It's still a good 6 hours none the less. It still has some really great moments and Hosei was MVP. I actually enjoyed the pain competition this time out too, and I generally don't like that so much. Matsumoto must have come close to breaking his old slaps record if not straight up beating it too.

I've realized I can't just watch half an hour at a a time. I'm going to have to wait for the entire thing to be finished and marathon it. My Japanese is still good enough to get half the jokes but I miss too much subtlety over the entire show. Even my six year old loves it after watching last year's game. I was dying at only Hosei's ball and chain being heavy, especially after him having to run from the demons while having the cans tied to him last year and the return of W Cheesecake

For all the big Sasuke fans out there*, Arsenette/The Rambling Rican (THE biggest fan) is currently running an Indiegogo campaign to fund a trip to Japan for the taping of Sasuke 31. Details here & here. *For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, Sasuke is the original and FAR superior version of Ninja Warrior/American Ninja Warrior - IMO, the best obstacle course show in the world.
