Yeah I had it 3-2 for Hendricks but I could definitely see how Lawler could have gotten the fourth round. Johnny really threw it away by letting Lawler elbow him numerous times in the head with no response. Anyway Lawler is cool so good for him.

The stall tactic was dumb on Hendricks part. I thought he was just going to leg kick Lawler till his right leg was linguini. Lawler had no answer for the kicks.

I saw round 1 and 4 as tossups and 5 as clearly lawler. I think the early aggression outweighed the takedown in round 1, and that the judges didn't count wall stalling as "effective grappling" in round 4, as it caused no effect, and Hendricks was using it as more of a defensive tactic rather than an aggressive tactic, and that the unified rules clearly state that defense doesn't count as a criteria for awarding the round. Like everyone else I cannot figure out where the gently caress 49-46 came from, and my mma fan super power is mental gymnastics to reverse-engineer a judge's thought process. I'm legitimately worried that we'll hear that they read out the scores incorrectly and that it was split for Hendricks

The key to the fight was Round 4. 1 I thought Robbie won early and was out-striking Johnny even though he was the one pinned up against the cage and Johnny did land a nice combo and useless takedown at the end. 2 was won by Johnny's workrate, though this is the one where Robbie had that sweet headkick and a couple of other flashy things. 3 was clearly Johnny's because Lawlor just simply forgot. 4 I kind of checked out but this is the one where the round ended with Robbie pounding on Johnny's head after Johnny landed yet another useless take down. And 5 was clearly Robbie's. I had it as being 'probably 3-2 Hendricks' especially with Rogan's spouting but it wasn't an outrageous decision the more I think about it (convince myself).

As soon as I saw D'Amato and Rosales as judges I knew something funny would happen. Hendricks should work on that gas tank because for those 2 rounds he looked like the best welterweight, then he gassed and laid there, inert.

I had Johnny winning 4-1 with Robbie winning round 5. With my absolute biggest rooting interest in Robbie I had it 3-2 Hendricks with 1-5 going to Lawler. I was legit shocked (and delighted) when Bruce announced Ruthless as the new WW champ.

Wall-stalling isn't effective grappling by any definition. 49-46 is a terrible score, no argument there.

I'm too tired to fish for an example, but "Wall-and-stall" wouldn't have such a nice rhyming term if it wasn't a tactic which had won a few otherwise undeserved rounds here and there.
