To be fair, I like Origins, and I enjoy DA2 also (although I acknowledge it's flawed, the flaws just don't get in the way of my enjoyment as much as for the people that declared it worse than the Holocaust because BioWare reused some maps), but Inquisition has probably the best plot (it actually has themes and poo poo), the same middle-ground balance of gameplay they hit for Mass Effect 3, and some of the best character writing they've done. Like, I dislike Sera, the elven archer in Inquisition, as a person, but as a character, I think she's pretty well written and performed and adds a unique conflict to the group dynamic.

If you disliked either prior game, I'm not sure it's for you, though. It kinda requires you to care at least a teeny bit about the setting, and the 'MMO/TES' elements aren't enough to make it NOT a Dragon Age game.

Inq is pretty good, better than either of the previous two.

MH3 Ultimate was one of the games I got with my Wii U, but every time I go to start it I go to the thread in games and look at that spiel about the charm tables or whatever the gently caress and just go "not tonight, Josephine". That is the sum total of my experience with Monster Hunter.

God drat it this is why I told them to take that loving thing out. Charm tables in a nutshell: They don't matter unless you're doing super-lategame charm grinding and if you're already that far down the rabbit hole then you'll live if you've got a hosed up table

I loved DA:O and thought DA2 was a very flawed game but not as bad as most people make it out to be, but that said, DA:I is my favorite of the bunch. It's about 50% Skyrim/TES and 50% traditional Bioware RPG though. And except for Sera, it's got my favorite group of companions/important characters in a DA game. Especially if you did certain choices in the first game a certain way.

This post is totally correct. DA:I is what DA2 should've been and then some. It goes to show what happens when you give a dev team enough time to polish their stuff, it'll turn out something really awesome. If you played the old ones, make sure to do the Tapestry thing and try to get the world state to match what you did as best you can (I had to arbitrarily pick some stuff when it came down to DA2 since I actually stopped that one halfway through).

I usually don't complain about this, but Inquisition is too drat big! Cut down the length to 30h and half the number of zones and maybe make them a bit smaller. The undead swamp was perfect size for an area.

I wouldn't ever say the game needs to be shorter, but I'd agree that the zone size situation is weird. The first zone is gi-loving-gantic, and it's to the point where people were having to go around saying LEAVE THE FIRST ZONE WHEN YOU CAN because it was really easy to just sit there and do all of the most boring quests in the game and be overlevelled for everything else.

That being said, I've not found the amount of stuff to do to be Skyrim levels of totally overwhelming.

The first four seasons are solid, it starts to dip noticeably in quality in season 5, and season 6 is where you can clearly see that they were struggling. Legion and Rimmerworld are good episodes, and Stoke Me a Clipper from season 7 is good too. Cassandra in season 8 is decent, but that's about it.
