It's a shame, that variant was designed for the 1970 Japanese Grand Prix, which in 1969 was similar to Group 7 rules. In '69 it used a 5 liter normally aspirated V8 making 600hp, while that particular car was to use the same 5 liter, albeit twin turbocharged (you can see the intakes mounted to the turbos under the wing), making up to 850hp.

However, the style of car was changed to open wheel for the 1970 JGP series, and the twin turbo never turned a lap in anger. Toyota had plans to ship it to North America to compete in the 1970 Can-Am series, but drivers Sachio Fukuzawa and Minoru Kawai were both killed in accidents before the plan could be implemented. In a car weighing 620kg, that combo would have been devastating, and given a year or two of development, it could have challenged both the McLaren M8 variants and Porsche 917/10's and /30's, maybe extending the life of Can-Am by removing the dominance seen at the end of the series' life.

What could have been...

Were they killed at old Fuji? That track claimed many lives.

Honestly, crowd reactions in rally events are pretty much the best icing on the cake. It's not only the astonishing feats of car control and brass-ballsery, it's the crowd so clearly appreciating them that makes the event special.

So much for that 'I buy big vehicles to be safe in a wreck' hypothesis.

Kind of ridiculous that the factory workers that built the truck think the design or construction of the vehicle did anything to save the guy. If those semis had gone a few inches closer it probably would have been a completely different story.

But I guess if they want to feel good about their job I have no place to criticize. :v:

2D is 10 mil credits and 2J is 15 mil credits. Grind those seasonals. I was an early adopter and used a credit glitch to get all the cars I wanted after I beat everything in the game.

Yeah but I think the Toyota 7 is under 2 mil, and seems to be the car to beat anyway. It was always that and the 2J out in front, the one to buy is obvious.

So at the Sears Point LeMons race, one team did a Cookie Monster themed BMW. Another team, however, did a cookie-themed Alfa Romeo Milano.

This, of course, enabled the creation of this picture:

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is the greatest picture in motor racing history.

Also another guy brought a Mini Moke done up like a backhoe, and finished 34th, at one point driving solo for seven straight hours with no stops.

He then re-themed his Mini Moke tractor as a John Deere for the next day.

He's probably suing them to protect his brand, dude. The whole legal / copyright system here is hosed up in regards to "If you don't actually make an effort to protect your brand / copyright / whatever, you will lose it." I could be entirely wrong, but I doubt it's out of malice so much as protecting a big source of his income.

Pretty much livin' the dream. I guess it's his "bro-ness" but it isn't really as douchey as some other extreme-types are to me. I think it's because he's always been a relatively chill dude, meanwhile dudes like Rob Dyrdek get on my nerves after I got to interact with him (drunk as gently caress instigating a fight between other drunks in a casino).

Also the word Gymkhana has surely been around, just like the words Gallardo, Diablo, and Espada were words long before Lamborghini trademarked them, but I would be a fool to make cars called Miura, and not expect a call from Lamborghini's lawyers, especially if I USED to be affiliated with Lamborghini.
