I heard he didn't even rip it off directly from the Dark Knight, but that another wrestler trying to get hired had the gimmick and Sting ripped it off him.

That makes it even more bizarre, because he regularly quoted directly from the movie.

Was it during his Joker run that Sting disguised himself as Fake Sting?

And besides, Jim Carrey's still alive! :pseudo:

Throwing streamers leads to great moments like Drake Younger being completely covered in yellow streamers before his title match or Kevin Steen making a streamer angel in his final PWG match because there was just so many in the ring so I'm all for that tradition. Dunno how well it would work in NXT though.

Sting is like when a kid sees a movie and then they get this REALLY great idea for a character in [game where you can make your own character] and it's totally different than the movie, you guys.

Oddly enough nobody says smokin' like The Mask in that underrated Ryan Reynolds wacky thriller. I do love a good titular line though, every movie should have one.

For some reason when Sting said SMOKIN' GOOD, I thought it was awesome.

This is a random dumb question but I couldn't actually remember -- is it true that Sting the singer has to pay Sting the wrestler a small royalty to use the name, or is that just an urban legend?

Could've sworn I heard a story like this: wrestler Sting took a trademark on the name, which was available because singer Sting never even thought about it, but the two were good sports about the whole thing and the singer only pays like $1 a year or something. Maybe I just dreamed up the whole thing, I dunno.

The singer Sting would have just shown prior usage.

No, Sting put the members of the Police in the Scorpion Death Lock and they tapped so he doesn't have to pay them

most outstanding has the best wrestling matches whereas wrestler of the year also accounts for promos, drawing ability, and importance to the company they work for

Aside from Invasion, have there been any WWE PPV shows that were essentially one huge storyline over the course of the whole show? Like, every match contributed to one huge storyarc.

Survivor Series 98 is close with most matches being the Deadly Games tournament.

Also, Bragging Rights was basically the Invasion annually on a small-scale. Two different rosters competing for supremacy.

WrestleMania IV as well since most matches are the title tournament. I guess we could count most of the King of the Ring PPVs as well, some of them only have two matches not related to the tournament.

Survivor Series 2001 is also pretty much all about the invasion and who will be able to be able to keep their job no matter who wins the Elimination Tag Team match in the main event, because if you have a title you get to keep your job.

He lost a mask match against Kane. Maybe in general they were running a "shoot" storyline about how Vader was unhappy with how his career had gone.

It's too bad HBK decided to bury Vader, because he was awesome.
