To be fair to Red Bull they do get a lot of top talent into F1, but they're ruthless once they're there. I've not seen any evidence that Kvyat was a better choice than Vergne would have been for the second Red Bull seat this year - I think they're pretty equal on talent currently, but Kvyat is obviously younger and may have more potential.

As far as the rest of your post goes, yeah, you can make the case either way. Personally I rate Nasr and I think Sainz and Verstappen have both impressed so far. Ericsson I can take or leave, I don't think he's a great talent but if Kobayashi couldn't get funding and Bianchi stayed in a coma he was the pick of last year's poo poo team drivers. Grosjean is one who has underachieved. I think there's more to him but whether we'll ever see it, who knows? This year's grid may well have a bunch of average F1 drivers, but there aren't many I'd swap out even though I'd have loved to see Vergne race a good car. There are enough average drivers and enough drivers who can be well above average on their day to give us some good racing.

Perez and Maldonado are special and should remain on the grid as long as possible. On their very finest days I sometimes wonder if they're the wildcards everyone quietly accepted to get Bernie to drop his sprinklers thing.

Ericsson's proving that he's solidly average, I think. He'll probably score a few points every time he finishes this year. I don't think Sainz is all that much better than Ericsson based on what I've seen, but Verstappen is better than he has any right to be.

Maldonado's been hampered by his temper both on and off the track; if he hadn't had his falling out with Williams he'd have had a bunch of podiums by now. His main issue in races is always dealing with having cars ahead of him, which wouldn't come up if he was behind the Mercs because he couldn't catch them. He'd only really be racing Bottas, and he's not usually so mad as to take out his teammate. (Usually.)

Car technology is arguably what motor racing is about. The fact that all of the drivers are prima-donna manbabies is just a bonus.

The only proper good season we've had in the last 5 years was 2012 other than that F1 has been really poo poo and the ratings show that

Not even the Germans give a poo poo about F1 and they have the current constructors champion and the driver with most titles and wins on the grid

F1 needs to change

They have a 1 hour reel available like a week after a race. You owe it to yourself to watch Le Mans in real time though.
