Does he play for the East or for the West? A woman on mat leave at my office occasionally visits with her baby, Titan. At a gathering, everyone noticed that at something like three or four months old, he was bigger than the nine-month old he was plopped down beside. Kid's gonna be huge.

I thought she was just another white middle-class soccer mom choosing a last name as a first name, thinking she was being unique. Later that same day I heard on the radio that Mason was the 3rd most popular baby name for boys this past year. I knew a Mason in middle school. His last name was Potter.

I think "porn" is a common prefix in Thai names. I saw some interesting names during my years at a video store just off of a college campus, including a nice young Thai woman named "Pornpen" that came in regularly. There was also a young African-born guy that was a regular who had the name "Mangina".

The former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales was Judge Igor Judge, or, more commonly, just Judge Judge. There was also an English international rugby player called Mike Catt, which when said aloud becomes "my cat". People I have met personally: A woman called Gaia - pronounced "gay-er" A little boy called Cosmo (wonder if he kept that name? Haven't seen him in over 15 years) A man with the first name Perrigrine, like the falcon, but known as Perrin. Not sure that's much better, tbh. A little boy called Storm Spanish names: Inma, short for Inmaculada Concepcion (Immaculate Conception), and Mamen, short for Maria del Carmen. Also, a lecturer known as Angeles (Angels), whose full name was Maria de Los Angeles y de Los Dolores. Mouthful. Oh and Chairo, short for nothing as far as I know, but still weird. Someone also told me they had a teacher called Mrs Cocks. Not Cox, Cocks. And on every French exchange ever, there is a Fanny. Edit: I forgot a Chinese executive called Tiger Fang! Which I guess is awesome, rather than terrible, but still worth a mention. schadenfraud has a new favorite as of 22:22 on May 19, 2015 |

How are these terrible names? They're standard nicknames (except maybe Chairo, never came across that one before). Not Angeles, I guess, but it makes sense and certainly isn't a terrible name. nicknames. I can't remember the last time anyone in my family called me by my given name.
