Edmunds bought a '66 Corvette for a long-term test. I really like these as you get a lot of details about the daily life with a car like that you won't get anywhere else short of milking an owner for info. http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/features/1966-chevrolet-corvette-handle-with-care.html

Yeah it's utterly TERRIBLE but it looks fantastic and in a big luxobarge like the F31 Leopard which has 3 gloveboxes, a 6 tape changer in the arm rest and other assorted crap that's all that matters. Big, slow, dumb, awesome.

Someone buys a new car and may be randomly selected to be sent a questionnaire.. one month after they take delivery of the car. All those reliability and satisfaction awards manufacturers love to brag about in commercials? Based off polling about cars that still read three digits on the odometer. I would loving love to answer questions about my two year old car. I'd talk their ear off.

It's worth it for the manufacturers to ensure their products are high quality at a few different points in it's lifespan.

That's a lot of effort to put a car in a game where you habitually win races by rebounding off armco.

Is there anyone out there actually experimenting with active body panels that can be used to help steer a vehicle? It seems like a pretty obvious idea but I can imagine actually doing it would be hilariously expensive.

How exactly do they design these cars for GT? I can't imagine any manufacturer spending many resources on designing a car for the sole purpose of having it be in a video game so is it just a matter of drawing out a crazy looking body and then going "ok now this car has MILLION hp and can go a BAZILLION mph!!!!!!!!" ?
|
# ? Jun 2, 2015 20:12 |
It's the natural evolution of exotics' active aero as they reach for even greater extremes. Ralph "driving" the thing: https://instagram.com/p/3bx6bFRCwG/ They could probably build the less crazy versions. Turbo Vipers making that much power exist, the hybrid and KERS tech could be taken from Ferrari, and the panels are a trick planes have had for decades. It would be ungodly expensive to develop and more expensive to buy. Don't think there's much of a market for a single seat homicidal hypercar. They've had prototypical active body panels for steering since the late 80s (and even earlier on some random prototype race cars) with the old Mitsubishi HSR-II, which was also in Gran Turismo.

Nah, man, the real way to do it is to go full speed into someone already committed to the turn. T-boning them dumps all your forward momentum into them, sending them off the track, and, as long as you hit them at less than a 90 degree angle, the physics engine will happily angle your car into the direction of the turn, so you're set.

I still think Forza 4 was the best in the series. From what i've seen, Horizon 2 and Forza 5 both recycle old cars that were already in 4 as paid DLC which is super hosed.
