None of that has to do with the panel quality. Don't get it because it's 4k, get it if you like the look of it better, backlight better, etc.

Went to take a look at the 55EC9300, and wow is that a fantastic looking TV. For that split second, it shot to the top of the list...until I found out that it doesn't have a standard VESA mount layout on the back, and can only be wall-mounted with LG's bracket. Is it possible to use a normal VESA wall mount with one of these TVs safely?

I love my soundbar. My parents can actually hear their TV with a soundbar (at a lower volume, too). The guy in the thread last page or two got the Vizio one and likes it. I think they're great when you don't care about spending money on a home theatre in a box.

Anybody not paying attention Walmart is doing their own Amazon-esque sales day on the 15th http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/13/news/companies/walmart-amazon-prime-sales/index.html Edit: Amazon has jacked up the price of 2 of the TV's I've been watching over $200 each in the last day. Guess they're going to be on sale and they wanted to inflate their supposed deal or whatever. Yes, amazon itself and not a third party seller. K shitlords whats the current news on 4K? Tizen? Moved to a new apartment and while I've been seeking to upgrade for a while, 46" just wont cut it in the new living room. Two buddies of mine have just bought LGs and I really like the new webOS system, however I've never really seen a LG with a picture I liked. My Samsungs have given me nothing but trouble but I'm not sure what other choice there is. I've considered Vizio as well but I'm not sure whether I'd be better off spending a bit more and going back to Samsung again. The main thing is I cant go back from 120hz (yes I know its just a processing effect and the panels aren't truly 120hz- I think?), but on 4k input can this smoothing effect still be produced?

Scenario: You are buying your wife a nice 42inch size TV so she can watch movies and some TV in bed before she goes to sleep (drat the health consequences) You have loved your samsung 52 inch LCD for the last XXX years, but are willing to consider the best options. YOu know you will be hooking this TV up to an xbox one to play netflix, and also you use ChromeCast and roku and apple tv on your primary tv. You want to avoid the smart TV's since they don't seem to have any value-added. Which brand and model do you choose for your wife who likes it 'right the first time.' (UI makes sense/plug and play)

I just upgraded to a Vizio M50 (from a 2006-era LG 42" that could only do 720p! Disgusting!). Felt great to take a 65lb monster off the wall and replace it with a bigger-screen-but-smaller-object TV that weighs about 30 pounds less. Question. This is the first time I've bought a new TV in a long time, obviously, and I wonder if there is anything that I should do to... calibrate it? The picture looks good to me, but I feel like I saw a blog post in this thread at one point about "the first steps you must do after buying a TV". Turning off motion blur maybe?

"1080p models are hard to find" fucks sake. Its bad enough up here but on the east coast its worse. Looks like I could get the 55EC9300 from Micro Center with that coupon for $1800 with tax. I am looking to replace a perfectly good 9 year old Panasonic plasma (just looking for something with great video quality to upgrade, especially since the plasma is 720P). My wife and I mainly just watch DVR/streaming TV shows and PS4 gameing on our set, no major home theatre style usage (I would try PC gaming if the set worked for that; the current one is a one-way trip to headache city with the low resolution). We also have it mounted over our fireplace but the room layout is such that we can only max out around 9-10 feet for view distance, so I am hesitant to go much above 55" in general. For those that have one of the sets, how do they perform with games? I'm hearing that they are middle of the road for input lag in the TV's game mode setting, but I don't know how that would affect the image quality. Also, can the set have motion interpolation disabled? I am super distracted by any set with the soap opera effect. Tortolia fucked around with this message at 15:20 on Jul 19, 2015 |

Therefore, I'd wait and either get a great OLED TV for now, or just spend the money on something else. As a disposable purchase, you aren't going to get much out of it right now.
