It's fine, I think they are still in shock that someone in CIG pretended to pay attention to them.

Maybe I just played too many PVP games, general characters (or in this case ships) always lose out to specialised characters. It's not even a subject work discussing. AC1, UO, the pvp character template/skills were always built to get that 1-2% edge, you'd even start a character in AC1 with 5 hit points just to ride the edge of the skill curve later on.

Yeah, his responses are pretty much the exact same strawman Super Cutlass garbage that Ben tried to bring to the table almost a year ago. The Hornet enthusiasts hyperventilating in the thread are pretty happy but Calix didn't really address anything that the thread has cared about for the past 80 pages or so.

CIG seems to feel very strongly that people will want to pirate for cargo. Like that's a fun way for people to spend their time. They'll probably try to put some thing in where you have to spend 8 hours flying it to a super secret pirate base on the other side of the game to sell it for a quarter of its original value or something to add super immersion.

Piracy is probably just going to be pointing a big gun at people and telling them to give you money.

If CIG doesn't allow that piracy will probably just be pointing a big gun at somebody and blowing them up.

You'd have to be pretty stupid to hobble a ship to inconvenience a group of players who'll adapt to use whatever tools at are at hand to do the job as efficiently as possible. I doubt anyone really cares what ship they're in so long as it's fun.

I think it's not unlikely that there will be NPC transports getting spawned to fullfill cargo jobs. Those will be those not attractive for players. And you'll be able to pirate those NPCs.*

I looked him up.

That's actually the first video of him I found when I did.

It's pretty funny if they don't even realise that nobody will want to use the Cutlass in pvp which makes it a bit of a issue for the pirate ship. Them wishing people won't min/max for pvp isn't going to make it not happen.

"PVP", also known by FPS players as "gameplay". Star citizen isn't an RPG. There aren't going to be dice rolls determining who wins a fight. It's a first person experience, twitch skill and teamwork above all will determine the winners.

In BF4 a compact .45 with ironsight in the hands of a talented player is more deadly than any scoped machine gun in the hands of your average rando pubbie. In other words, winning in Star Citizen will be more about the player(s) involved than the ship(s) or gun(s). I wonder how many of the Evegoons here can twitch? Guess we'll find out.

You better post in the Cutlass thread and tell Calix Reneau because he flat out said the Cutlass could only beat an Aurora from the ships currently flyable. So that means a 325a can easily beat it, no better pilot, none of that bollocks Chris Roberts normally says.

EAT THE PAIN AWAY!
So Megzilla confirms that Character Art is absolutely off-track

>Sure, but we just haven't gotten as far on characters as other parts of the game, such as the "characters" of Arena Commander ie the ships. Star Citizen is a huge endeavor - often times we have had to pause PU development in order to work on the FPS or Squadron 42. Just because character R&D isn't as far along does not mean it is not going to happen, it just means we haven't gotten there yet.<
