How many patches have there been since release? Will the expansion have game-play changes or is it just content? I haven't been up to speed since I finished my release playthrough.

The gameplay changes are all in the 2.0 patch, which you don't need the expansion to get.

I haven't been up to speed since I finished my release playthrough. 1.0 through 1.06 and now the beta 2.0 patch. The patches have been mostly bug fixes and balance passes on classes. The latest 2.0 beta patch includes most of the basic new stuff they're bringing into the expansion. You can see that stuff here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0GvsA6exuY The expansion's new game-play changes will be the higher level cap, the ability to cross-class "a little" and the soul weapons. Won't be surprised if there are some other class balance stuff in the expansion launch itself but we'll see I guess. v Most of that is in the patch notes, just read the class sections. The perception change is largely overblown. Rascyc fucked around with this message at 05:17 on Aug 24, 2015 |

Pretty sure Hiero is talking about stuff like changes to Focus, changes to Cipher powers, Guns etc etc. Something was happening with Perception but I kinda lost track, think it might have been accuracy, so that'd change character creation in big ways.

New areas in the White March: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0bznbyIfmA Soulbound Weapons video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mapq2iJbwgk I like the larger weapon info UI and the expanding backstory for the weapons as you level it up. Comes out tomorrow! Can't decide if I want to do my 6 wizard run or do a run with the new companions. Devil of Caroc looks pretty rad.

Matt Sheets loves doing six wizard runs. The AI scripts make it much easier to do full parties of casters now.

At 1:03 there's one dude that's throwing something (daggers?) Are there throwing weapons implemented?

Does the main campaign re-scale when you come back from the expansion areas or is it just an option for the final boss?

Throwing weapons are not implemented, though there is a dagger throwing game (scripted interaction) called Orlan's Head in Stalwart's tavern. The main campaign does not scale, but there is an option to bump up the difficulty of the final fight.

I got this game a while ago but just started playing it a few days ago. Glad to see a patch is incoming to fix some of the smaller quibbles I've had about an otherwise fantastic game.

So i just picked this up last night and made my first character.. a dwarf fighter (probably boring class) Anyways, I hit level 2 and noticed i didn't have a chance to level up my attributes, is it whatever you picked at the start is what you're stuck with outside of items? or does it go every other level?

Since the possibility of an all-wizard party was broached earlier on this page, anyone have any tips for how to build a wizard in this game if I'm planning on making my main character one? I recently bought a copy of POE but stopped after the intro cutscene when I realized the expansion was less than a week away. I've always played mages in, for example, Infinity Engine games, but I'm not familiar with the stats here and, more importantly, I'm not at all familiar with the spells while I knew the D&D ones like the back of my hand. Can a wizard potentially have every spell in their "spellbook" and memorize among them freely on a day-to-day basis? Or are they more like a 3rd edition sorcerer who chooses spells which essentially become permanent abilities usable x number of times per day/fight? I've heard wizards described as "Vancian" which makes me tentatively assume the former but I figure I'd better make sure before I inadvertently permagimp my wizard by only memorizing color spray or whatever.

Wizards can only use spells that are in their currently equipped grimoire. You can switch the spells that are in your grimoire outside of combat (from among any you know via level-up or learning out of found grimoires) or you can switch your grimoire in combat, though you can't cast spells for a short while after switching.

I think for my new run I'm going to not take any weapon focus talents because they've had the inadvertent consequence of making me ignore weapon drops that aren't on some list, which is silly because it's a personal mental hangup rather than a game limitation like class weapons in DnD. Two levelup's worth of accuracy is nice and all, but I think I'd like to actually use cool loot as I find it rather than treating it as vendor fodder because it's not optimal. Though the new soulbound weapons are going to introduce a new level of now that I have to figure out which weapon best matches the ~~~~personality~~~~ of each follower.

That was a cool video Scorchy! That sword would be hard to pass up for a paladin type character. I wonder what else we'll get?

Yeah I'm trying to decide how would I go back to the campaign after the expansion content and enjoy it. Even being 1 or 2 levels above where I usually am, that's going to make for a stomp of a game on PotD. I'd guess: don't do any warden quests, don't do Raedric 2.0, and if it's still pretty easy, don't go too far under the keep? You lose some decent loot unfortunately but I guess it's mostly weapons, whereas the decent armor is much earlier in the keep. Ah I suppose the best is probably to just use one of my clear saves and scale the expansion content up but... I really want more time to use the soul weapons!!

Played 1.0, was frustrated by some of the rough-around-the edges bits and quit a third of the way through the game. Looking at the patch notes since and the 2.0 update + expansion I'm pretty excited to give it another go. Individual stealth god yes.

Bounties, Zombie Raedric, Endless Paths, everything except the final boss. And as a matter of fact I did complete the story, of course, to see what the end was like, but my White March start is probably going to be kicked off with said party. But yeah, only two levels with the new soulbound weapons? Eh, I hope those two levels are long as hell. Of course, I have another save set up where each map is complete right up to entering the city. So I guess, I'm torn between completely leveled party who can hack through anything or baby level party who would take more advantage of the new soulbound weapons.

One thing I'm looking forward to is making a cipher main and experiencing the class synergy with the new rogue companion. Easier Ectopsychic Echo position for the cipher, plus crazy flanking for the rogue from Phantom Foes and Mental Binding? The new change to stealth is probably going to make Backstab no longer a trap talent, too.

# ? Aug 25, 2015 05:51 |

I started a backstab rogue and it is definitely a worthwhile investment. In most cases it guarantees a pretty brutal alpha strike, though that may need some tweaking . Right now you basically have a 2-second or so window between when you're detected and when the backstab bonus stops. I'm pretty sure I've seen a fast rogue perform multiple backstabs off one detection, but that may also just be a bug with dual wielding.

Yeah if you played the game at 1.0 release and wonder what's been added since, by patch 2.0 (the expansion patch) it'll include: - A respec option for a fee - New option to level up your companions from level 1 when you recruit them - Customize your character portrait in-game - Party AI scripts assignable to party members - Lots of class balancing, especially Paladins, Ciphers, and Rangers - UI tweaks including stash sorting, casting distance and PBAoE indicators - Stealth separated by individual and not the entire group

Whats the logic behind restricting soulbounded weapon perks to certain classes? Seems like that is going to pigeonhole feat choice.
