I've been really enjoy Tame Impala's Currents. I've been listening to it for my commutes.

Can you recommend any more bands who are making poppy / dreamy / rock music right now? Beach House springs to mind, but they're missing the groove that you get with Tame Impala.

Right at the top of the first post you'll see a link about Danny Wolfers imagined film narratives, BoC's Tomorrow's Harvest feels similar to a lot of that work.

Are there any catchy, sloppy, lo-fi garage rock bands that sound like "Bamboo" by Hinds. (They're from Madrid, so I know that's why they sing in a weird way, and I'm really into it.)

I'm also really into the weird, lo-fi band The Strange Boys, especially their songs "Laugh At Sex, Not Her" and "Be Brave", which fits the same mold I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance!

that Hinds song kinda reminds me of Beat Happening or Syd Barrett. i listened to a few more tracks and that impression holds up, plus maybe the Clean, but none of them have much in the way of female vocals. speaking of which, the overlapping, slightly off-kilter vocals make me think of Nikaido Kazumi, although musically she's not as similar. the obvious answer for lo-fi garage rock with female vocals is the Shaggs, but they're terrible. Vivian Girls or Dum Dum Girls might fit the bill, but they might be a bit more polished than what you're looking for.

This is actually way more retro-oriented, what with all those 80's synth sounds.

Like theflyingexecutive said, searching for "synthwave" should get you started. If you want some even more outrageously 80s feeling stuff, try the Youtube channel NewRetroWave.

Some other major artists for this are Power Glove (made the soundtrack for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon) and Perturbator (my personal favourite of the lot)

I was wondering if there are any bands/albums that hit a good sweet spot with a mix of dream pop/shoegaze, I definitely know bands in those two categories separately but I haven't found many with a mix of the two that I enjoy; most lean one way or the other too much.

Closest I found was something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlS247blB2c any idea?

not sure where your dividing line lies, but that link made me think of Kent's "747." i've been listening to No Joy and the first The Joy Formidable (no relation) a lot lately, so you might get something out of them, but i have a feeling that the latter might both have more of an edge than what you're looking for

Beach House is great but there definitely dream pop, not really shoegaze.

I rather like both of the "Joy" suggestions you had, though I wasn't to big of a fan of the alt rock edge and I think I may want more walls of noise? None of its bad but feels like all the bands I search for with that combination don't quiet have "the sound" im looking for (granted I myself am trying to articulate what exactly that sound I want is). I think I need something more noisey and less poppy but still very dreamy.

Can anyone recommend me something - ANYthing that sounds like what I'm about to describe? It's 1) European 2)Trance? electronica? I don't even know the specific genre of it. 3)female vocals 4)moderately fast beats - def good for workin out, especially running. 5)dark

Sorry if it sounds too general... all I know is that it wasn't in English (heard it in Finland), it sounded good as HELL for running, and that I don't think it was EDM. It didn't sound too light or dancy. I'm way too late at night for me to continue searching for this, so thanks in advance.
