I know. That's what makes it so funny.

Yes but due to feature creep we may end up having to make an FPS, a farming game, a new version of second life, a new version of eve online, and a sci fi TV series starring mark hamill along the way

Okay, realtalk for a sec - how would you actually define that term? Is it "joined SA forums due to a goon gaming guild" (or in this case a goon non-game guild)? Cause in that case, yea - I'm a j4g.

But technically I didn't join FOR the guild. Got no interest in FLJK/Goonrathi/SFD or any of the other hydra-like guilds, that once thought they'd be playing this non-game. I just joined for SA itself, but due to said goon guilds presence.

j4gs are more or less people who are told that they can't enter a goon guild/clan/whatever because they only accept members of the SA forums, so then that person goes out, and then tries to join the said goon group because they are all like "HAY GUYS I JOINED THAT FORUM!". Sometimes it involves telling the j4g to please post a recruiting thread in some subforum for the entertainment of everyone. So unless you tried to join SA to get into a specific guild, I wouldn't really call you a j4g. Hell, I tell people all the time to just make an account because if you want to do some semblance of organized gaming online, there seems to always be some sort of goon presence and you can expect a bare minimum of having bodies around.

That, and things like that more than anything else, is what turned me off of Star Citizen the first time I looked at it. It's just drat ugly, with way too much going on and no real aesthetic beyond "edgy."

All Glory unto the Stimpire. Give up your arms and legs and embrace the beautiful agony of electricity that doubles in pain every second.

From what I can tell during my time here there are two wrong reasons to join SA:

1) J4Gs. Their objective based reason for joining eschew an indoctrination into local culture and they poo poo everything up.
2) All other reasons are also bad.

I appreciate the functionality of ED stuff without some absurd half baked quest for realism. Stuff = mass = jump range issues. Nice. Fair enough.

Star Citizen has some impossible quest chasing cargo and mass and flight performance that they would never have achieved even if they hadn't somehow foundered. We're gonna physically load the cargo onto your ship! Don't ask us how this works or what the mass of a cargohold full of gold is.

Also the UI in ED is magical.

:agreed:

A lot of the Star Citizen stuff looks like it should be in the Michael Bay Transfomers movies: made up of spindly bits, lots of fragile parts, and mostly uniformly grey and chromed, with few exceptions.

The collision videos are particularly laughable because the ships look like they should fly apart into a billion pieces on contact with anything.

This guy is a really good speaker. I know Eonwe posted it earlier, but stick around past the 8 minute mark and you'll see a 101 lesson in how to handle opinions, perspectives, and respect. By 50 minutes, he's giving deep descriptions on criticism & opinions and how to not be overly sensitive about someone who disagrees with you.

Superficially, this all seems incredibly elementary, but I can see how you can coast through life and not pick up social maturity. The people asking questions during this stream were really rough for the first fifteen minutes but things quieted down as they either left or started to appreciate his way of approaching questions / issues from an open-minded standpoint.

http://www.twitch.tv/corpsealot/v/19168481

I do disagree with one thing: Corpsealot points out many times that he's on the backers side and that nobody wants everyone's money to go to waste. I do, but I'm probably an outlier. I really wouldn't mind watching a lot of people get hurt. Most of the rest of the video is okay with me though.

End: "This is the last time I'm going to talk about Star Citizen, because, one, I shouldn't be the one to criticize it. I've done my part to help you guys ask some questions. I don't want to hear anybody complaining about this game from you guys because, frankly, if it turns out to be an utter complete piece of poo poo, there's nobody to blame but yourselves because you let it happen. Every time someone tries to open his mouth and be critical, you shut us up, or try to."
