Getsuya posted:Also does anyone know if the Outlast DLC is worth even the $2 it's going for right now? Absolutely, it's a shorter and therefore tighter experience than the main game and is arguably better. If you like the main game then Whistleblower for $2 is a steal. I do have to warn you that the imagery and story events are significantly more hosed up than what is found in the base game, which is saying a lot because the base game itself is really hosed up and gory. I'm talking most hosed up things I've ever seen in a video game territory. So yeah, know what you're getting into but I highly recommend it, especially at that price.

I know that people spent a full 2 pages arguing about PoE but Wasteland 2's flaws massively outweighed my desire to buy the game. It was a effort post detailing what made the game terrible, and it wasn't the UI or the style but some insanely stupid deliberate design decisions. Well, It's a throwback game, not rooted in nostalgia but in mirroring the games of its original time. If you don't mind old school games, this game is one of the old-schoolingest. The director's Cut has voiced characters and dialog now, and I never had an issue with the graphics, and I did feel that having a skill to reduce the chance for your team members to go into hulk-mode autonomous berseker mode during combat was loving stupid, but it's not a bad game, the parts that I played. You just have to know that the game is designed by a guy/a team who live to sperg about the 80's design.

As someone who just played through Rev2 a few weeks back (which led to me buying the Humble Store RE4-6 pack a few weeks back), I will second this and just extend it to the entire Burton Clan being the best, with the combo of jaded veteran Claire + over this poo poo teen Moira being an excellent metahumor pair. "Oh, and I suppose we're just going to find all the parts to repair this lying around?" "In my experience, yes. Probably close by." Also re: RE5 and GFWL- I'm the guy who bought it a week ago, had the game refuse to boot vanilla, and had to buy the DLC to suddenly make it Steamworks and playable. I'll take pics when I get back to my PC, if I deactivate the DLC it fucks itself again.

RETURN OF THE 31 DAYS OF MOSTLY SPOOKY GAMES 1. Knock-knock 2. CAPSULE 3. DARK 4. System Shock 2 5. Castle in the Darkness 6. Shattered Haven 7. Whispering Willows 8. Frankenstein: Master of Death 9. Kraven Manor 10. Our Darker Purpose 11. Stray Cat Crossing 12. Splatter - Blood Red Edition 13. The Emptiness Deluxe Edition I've got a great idea. Let's run around in a house rendered in the cheapest CAD program we can find, clicking on silhouette letters in between poorly-executed jumpscares. Who's with me? Even if you aren't, the developers of The Emptiness are, and they even pose it as some kind of insightful rumination on depression. Seriously, the game opens with a warning about disturbing content in a delightfully Hot Topic font, and then launches into a diatribe about the nature of depression. The Poser-modeled house in which you find your sad-brained self is a sort of purgatory, as the FMV demon and angel explain. I want to pay these two special recognition, because they look like family members of the dev team, and I swear to God the devil is wearing a brown Snuggie. You navigate the static rooms by clicking on the arrows linking your views, which allow for multiple vantages on the same scene. This is in no way a good thing, because your goal for most of the game is to click on hidden letters in the scenery that are only visible from a single point. So, if there's a Q blending into the wallpaper, you might only be able to click on it from the middle of the room, and not from the doorway that has almost the same field of view. These letters form "spells" that undo the seals on the doors around the house, granting you access to such key locations as the bathroom. The scenes actually get less detailed as you progress, with fewer points to examine and forcing more backtracking. Aside from some absolutely banal minigames in between seals, I've just described the extent of the gameplay. Once or twice per spell you may find an item you have to use to get a letter, but more natural puzzles like that are extremely rare. What breaks up the monotony between clicks are the bargain-basement jumpscares sprinkled all over. Be ready for hands popping out of paintings, screaming faces on TV, bleeding walls, and more programmer kin making faces and lunging at you. My favorite is the portly, balding fellow in the black sweatsuit who explodes out of the kitchen wall Kool-Aid Man-style if you click on a Post-It with a rune on it. The Emptiness is ugly, obtuse, and boring. If you make a living screaming at bad horror games on YouTube it might give you something to work with, but as far as enjoyment goes, it's running on empty.

Set intelligence to either 4 (3 skill points per level) or 10 (5 skill points per level) Other attributes do exactly what the tool tips say. Make sure you play with your numbers to give all your people a combat initiative of 12 or greater, but besides that put them where it makes sense. Strength is real key to your tanks because it improves melee damage and hp (which is called constitution) Pick 3 or 4 skills for each character that you plan on specializing in. Try and give each person a different firearm, ammo can be a little sparse in some places. Skills like first aid and surgery are good to have, so are lock picking, mechanics, demolitions, computers, outdoorsman and bruteforce. The three rear end skills are your main dialog option openers. If you don't want to bother just skip them and give someone the rear end in a top hat (?) trait which gives you a 10 hardass skill but prevents you from using any other negotiation tactic. You will not be able to open every barrier in the game, every skill opens a few things, but the above are the skills I remember getting used a lot. Most areas of the game have multiple ways to get past them unless you only speced everyone in toaster repair and animal husbandry. There is a very solid reliable companion in the first area, don't leave for the radio tower until you find her (SE corner) Remember that you can always lower the difficulty if you aren't 1980's enough.

anilEhilated posted:Speaking of the stealth sale, how is The Marvelous Miss Take? Looks like a really cute little game, not sure if it's worth buying outside of a bundle though. I bought the game a while ago, but only put thirty minutes into it because of my backlog of games (I went through a phase where I bought games pretty much nobody played). From what I've played, it's a pretty good game. You're trying to fill an art museum with paintings you steal back after a guy steals them from your grandmother. The game is handled from an isometric view and it controls really well. There isn't any combat, it's all pure stealth. You unlock gadgets and characters (3 characters total I think) as you progress. Characters have their own quirks, such as not being able to sprint or refusing to leave without a certain item. The art direction is really good, too. Guard vision is clearly defined by a grayish-white color which stand out from the colorful environment. Pitch black shadows mean the guards can't see you in their vision cone, so you never have to guess if a guard can or cannot see you. It's a steal at $5 for sure.
