Wow. That looks impressive for the stock Cryengine. No not really.

So far it's Cryengine without:

Dynamic lighting
The HUD that used to be there
Energy weapons and effects
Upgraded sights
Those MOCAP animations

And more. Also, for "real" looks they don't move in the ready/carry positions.

The more videos of Star Citizen I see, the more I feel the biggest issue is that the whole thing is so goddamn bland. The art direction is like they are deliberately going for the most generic feeling of "spacey" that they could.

That's why I never backed it then forgot about it until it started exploding this summer.

Roberts is really the opposite of radical/visionary. Instead he wants to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. Real visionaries don't try to please everyone.

This is a pretty good indication that whatever coherence this project once had is quickly disappearing. "There is no Star Marine, just the baby PU...but we're still working on Star Marine proper! but no individual module with FPS features..." I don't think they themselves know whether to conceptualize what they're doing as independent from the rest of the game or not.

It's truly amazing how often this living joke backtracks. He just said only July 6th that he'd spoken with employees of CIG and thus knew they were scrapping the FPS altogether.

I liken this to an ancient soothsayer, standing atop a hill, raising his voice to the sky and claiming that he has brought the lightning and rain.
