How rear seat room difference is there in FoST vs FiST? I've had my FiST about 3 years now and I really like it, but the kids are getting older (7 and 9) and in the rare occasion I have to take all four of us, things are a bit crowded. If I were to be responsible I would look at a crosstreck or maybe Mazda6. But, I have an hour commute each way to work, so the thought of getting rid of my peppy mariokart makes me kind of sad.

Handling is soft but quite good if you know how to drive properly, it's not fast but there is plenty of torque to lug you around pretty easily, and it's overall quite lovely to bomb around town in. For what I want out of my daily driver, I love it and would not trade it for an ST, but I'm not sure how I'd feel if I didn't have a 330Ci with coilovers and Super Sports sitting around.

I know that with the seats in use, the space behind the seat is more than double in the Focus (24 cubic feet vs. 10) compared to the Fiesta.

I use my Fiesta as an uber car and don't have any complaints from passengers. It's surprisingly drivable with the seat scooted way forward and I'm not short. (6' 1")

Sold my ST today. It was an absolutely fantastic car for the money. Almost too good, on the verge of boring easy to drive fast. Anyway, I'll miss hanging the rear out and making dumb blow off sounds with you, car.

I may be getting a bump in salary soon, which means I may soon be in a position to make a vanity purchase to upgrade from my 2012 Sonic. What's the board's opinion of a loaded Kia Forte5 SX? Every online review seems to say it's a great value: Lots of equipment, good power, iffy steering. I'd be using it for a daily commuter (20 minutes each way), and kid transport (ages 6 and 10).

Itugo, if you are just looking for a nicer car than the Sonic, it's fine. If you want actual performance, it's not nearly as good as anything else in the hot hatch category. The FoST back seat, at least on the ST3, is easier to get in to than my 128, but has about the same amount of interior room, if not less.

Well, after doing a Mountune intake kit, Cobb RMM + intercooler + hard pipes, and OTS Stg.2 map, I am happy to report the FiST will spin the front tires at the top of first and second. Time for a diff.

JB1 went on the GTI today along with a little more aggressive map 6 setup. Car should be a little north of 300whp and weigh a little under 3000lb with a full tank. Not bad for a DD. Time to stop modding it, at least until its out of warranty and there are tunes for the Golf-R turbo swap - which is supposed to be good for north of 400hp.

It's going to be hard to not mod the R, but I need to have at least one warrantied DD. Stock performance is pretty adequate, although knowing there's lots of power on tap makes it tough! Had to get the poor wrx towed home while I save pennies for the re-build, and the upgrades... Thinking about getting a full race efr7163 kit in addition to the built short block and some other supporting goodies. Should be able to get around 400whp on e85 on a mustang dyno.

What sort of rear-wheel drive hatchbacks are out there? They don't even need to be hot. Subaru's are not RWD The 1 series is the only RWD hatch I can think of but if you can't fit in an Impreza you certainly won't be able to for into that

I asked myself the same question when I was car shopping in late 2006/early 2007and ended up with one of these:  Don't even think about parroting the Top Gear 'hairdressers car' joke; it's tired and moderately homophobic. Not hot or pretty from the front, but very spacious inside for four adults and could haul a hell of a lot of stuff. The pano roof was awesome. That said, I was going about this the wrong way by making a list of bulletpoints like RWD, Hatchback and should've bought something more sporty. I think I ended up paying 13,500 back then; I wonder what else I could've got for that money at the time.

There are basically no rwd hatches in the US. The Us market is dominated by suvs and fwd appliances. If you want a hatch you have to take what you can get. At best AWD is about all you can get here. That being said. WINTER MODE ENGAGE.  TSW Snettertons in 17x7 with 235/45/17 Continental Winterextreme SI. Wheels are surprisingly light. The entire setup feels a good 8-10 pounds lighter per corner. I think some of you are mistaking those fastbacks for hatchbacks. Now that I think about it, I've actually never owned a sedan. Drove my parents hatchback 87 lebaron for a few years. Bought a 84 944 and drove that for another 10 or so, fastback. DD'd an 04 mazdaspeed miata for 3 years. Drove my 14 wrx hatchback for 2 years until she blew. Built engine and have my eye on an efr7163 kit coming soon... 16 golf R for a week and a half. No stick in any configuration but an RWD X135 with the M-sport package would be pretty nice. Always the E36 compact, though, if you want cheap RWD hatch.
