fallout more like failout amirite today in my continued cooking misadventures I am going to try a basic dish I have never really done before: Roast beef. I've covered it with a mustard rub and it's currently roasting away. Going to make it with mashed potato, roasted carrots and kale because it was like 13p for a big bag and it's loving cabbage, and finished with a red wine gravy if I can manage to actually make one.

feedmegin posted:You can drop a lot less than six hundred quid, I suspect, it sounds like it deals pretty well with low-end hardware (unsurprising since the engine is like one million years old at this point; Witcher it is not). I'd say £450 in parts for something which can play fallout 4, plus spending an hour or two putting it together. Bigger problem is installing windows cheaply unless you don't mind piracy.

It will be your ram, it's always your ram. Sometimes if your PC is feeling like being a special dick it will be the ram and something else just to gently caress with you.

I reinstalled W10 the other day, I didn't necessarily have to but my system reserved partition was on my D drive instead of my boot drive, can you imagine something so preposterous? (also my C drive was B and my D drive was C and some other weird stuff) computers are dumb.

Bigger problem is installing windows cheaply unless you don't mind piracy. It works with recent-ish Intel integrated graphics, apparently, so more like a couple of hundred for a motherboard and CPU assuming he has all the other bits and they're not too hilariously out of date. And if he's lucky the Windows he already has will work fine after (probably) a quick phonecall to Microsoft having had its brains swapped out from under it.

playstation (4) the backwards compatibility thing is overhyped because its a limited list of games none of which you'll actually want to play i was thinking the other day as a challenge is it possible to buy the parts for a pc that would run fallout 4 at the same speed, resolution and detail settings for around the same cost as a ps4 im pretty sure youd be out by at least 200 quid like not theoretically but someone actually try and do it

Chosen option c) upgrade PC Realised I get paid twice in December due to the random 4 weekly schedule at my work so instead of adding my spare £625 rent to my non existent savings, its getting spent on a new PC. Merry fuckin Christmas me.

fallout 4 is going to be bad and then there'll be a fallout 4 new vegas that is good everyone who likes that game should buy alpha protocol for the PC imo and put up with the kind of hosed up controls and put points into stealth and pistols since they break the game because its really good

The PS4 and XBox One were both comparable to mid-range PCs at best when they launched, they're pretty much low end PCs now.

There's a multitude of options of available, but we went into our own budget gaming build project with one objective in mind: to run the latest games well and to attempt to match the overall experience offered by the current generation of consoles. Could we match or even exceed PlayStation 4 performance with a computer constructed for a mere £300/$400? tl;dr - yes you can build one for cheap which performs better than a ps4 you then also have a pc as well, so you can game and... watch porn or whatever. try doing that on the ps4's godawful browser. (i think ps4's are cool, but yeah you can build a capable pc for that cost, if you can be bothered)
