1st AD posted:Weidman has been training there forever though. Ronda has like half a decade of bad habits to unlearn. True, but I would argue that footwork and chasing down a fighter correctly are two of the more coach-able aspects of MMA and striking in general. You're not going to teach a fighter how to be a BJJ black belt in 6 months or how to go from being a pure grappler to a world class boxer, but you sure as poo poo could coach her to cut an angle and key off someone's shoulder to slip a punch. It wouldn't be easy but that was an ugly as poo poo performance and imo she'd be better off improving that than trying another tard rush.

Now that 24 hours have elapsed, I would like to say I find it very refreshing that nobody has crawled out of the dumpster to declare how the fight was fixed and the UFC made Holm to take a dive unlike other times "unbeatable" champs have had their poo poo pushed in. I don't know if there's some weird reason for it, but it's nice.

I was in the midst of getting up to come to the computer and post how Holly Holm looks like a feral ghoul from fallout 4 and must have learned her strategy from the Clay Guida run away fighting school, basically nothing nice to say about the girl then about 50 seconds later she knocked ronda rousey out with a head kick knock out. no one saw that coming (including rousey hahaha) holly holm winning the title is just proof that jon jones is the GOAT since she has been training with him. I always found it real weird that "super champions" dont just go to jacksons gym considering GSP and jon jones two of the best of all time come from that gym you would think more fighters would train there. maybe it is just a location thing and only people living near ABQ can train with jackson winkeljohn. all the respect to Holly Holm - her and valerie really proved that being number 7 or number 8 in MMA doesnt make a difference some nights. Excited to see how this changes the bantamweight landscape and now maybe we will see the belt transferring hands a few times. Rousey really looked like a goof ball after the weigh in and her not touching gloves. Holy was a clas act and hugged her and waited for her to get up, I like that a lot. Even though she looks like a feral ghoul from fallout 4.

I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that Holly Holm was able to lift and throw Ronda Rousey, Olympic bronze medalist in judo, after being stunned by the one good punch Ronda threw all night.

Holm really brought out all these things that reminded me of the best products of Jackson's gym: - Jones' jamming with thigh kicks and elbows - Condit's vigilance against unfavorable infighting and running out and resetting - Cowboy's nasty close-up headkicks - cultlike dedication to following parts of a gameplan Fartbong Bonersatan posted:Ronda's Judo coach with some realtalk Characterising him as her judo coach is misleading, as Ronda was trained by other people as well, not the least of which is her mom. By Pedro's own admission, he hasn't kept in touch with her for years. Her judo career was campaign when she was younger. Not saying she's changed that much, but his take on her current mindset is limited. The other stuff was totally reasonable.

The whole 'have a plan and use it', when so many of Ronda's previous opponents instead went full retard does drive home the point about Holm was one of her first quality fights. Meisha took her to three, but it took a 34 year old adult who can remember a series of dot points to take down the MOST DOMINANT FEMALE FIGHTER OF ALL TIME. I do love the fight game for exactly this, brains really will conquer brawn.

It just seems like such common knowledge that is one of the best gyms so I'm surprised more champions don't head that way. Ronda being under glendale fighting club has always been strange to me that she didn't join a bigger gym but I guess that is loyalty and nothing wrong with that just surprising since so many fighters hit a peak with certain gyms / coaching styles until they move on. I still feel Jon Jones had a lot to do with this win. Holm had a lot of things to say about him helping her through this training camp.

But if they took in $1,000,000 on Holly at +1000 they would be on the hook for $10,000,000 in payouts.

Just checking in, I'm the Rousey bandwagoning idiot who otherwise doesn't watch UFC and legit believed Bluedeanie was a UFC doctor that one time. And I am still totally shocked about the fight. Holm did a great job. The whole undefeated label shouldn't matter, even if the loss of it is pretty brutal. Ronda's still a superstar and has all that Mainstream Charisma(tm) that most athletes lack. But man, this is still crazy. I'm really disappointed with her about that little cheap shot punch at the end of round 1 though. Not touching gloves and the weird weigh-in incident, I can look past. But that seemed like REALLY bad sportsmanship. Does that happen often? Also guess I need to keep an eye on this Joanna Jechaychik(?) lady now, holy crap.
