okay as promised here is the re-enactment of me opening santa gifts. please pretend i did this when i received them. a package has arrived! lets open it a phone...? from corea? what's this? f...firefox OS? I dont know what any of this says, but lets put the battery in and get started jk, the battery needs charging because I probably left the battery in too long I'll update w/ more firefox pics in another post (a few days later) another box??? and it's from somebody who shares my last name. what the heck?? is this raw rear end silicon? this must be where posts come from. I kinda wish I knew what's actually on these though. Thank you santa!!! I'm probably going to use the silicon to scare pigeons away from my balcony because I hate pigeons and I heard they're scared of reflective stuff and nothing is more reflective than this

The thin films on them put the wafers under a a crapton of stress and attempting to drill them can cause them to explode like tempered glass. I suggest a getting them mounted in a shadowbox because they look really cool, especially if you are able to make them rotate. They look double extra neat if you can rig up a polarized light source where you could vary the polarization - the thin films cause all sorts of fun optical effects under polarized light. Or use one as a shaving mirror or something. Secret Santa gift update: tried Star Realms tonight. it owns.

I made a dong for pleasurekevin remember? i just worked in a semiconductor fab so I had a lot of time to play around with the things, see what happens when they get nicked (kaboom!), and had to do inspections of them under polarized light and it made them neat looking. also i can't tell exactly what the chips are from the photo but most of them look like logic of some sort. the one on the far right in the last photo looks like it has a large array of memory next to the logic component but that doesn't exactly narrow it down much. edit: you can usually make out identifying information on the chips using a magnifying glass. usually the manufacturer logo and a part number will be formed on them. I just went downstairs to pick up my new rice cooker and the front desk guy said there were TWO packages. He was really confused, though, because one was addressed to #{first_name}-James #{last_name}. What could they be?? I was just fawning over a color changing mug! gotta warm it up lol. Hey, person that got a firefox phone, sorry you weirdo phone wasn't as good as mine. I've never seen one of these IRL and I can't wait to mess with it. And the last thing. Not gonna lie, I was shocked when I saw it. It's so dang cool. Yeah, that's a drawing of H.G. Wells on a page from War of the Worlds, appearing in Pearson's Magazine. I will be getting this framed and hung VERY soon. Thank you so much, 24-7 Urkel Cosplay. You really knocked it out of the park.
