Generally fight each battle assuming you win in one turn. Dont worry about being wide open without cover just to get a better grenade or flank shot. Use flash, mimic, hack stun on anything remaining.

I've never let one do anything more then mind control someone before I bury it in grenades and high elevation sniper fire.

Considering what happened the first time the game asked you to do something like this, I did my skull jacking in a rather controlled environment. I can see how it would be a pain in more hectic circumstance.

Mine has saved me so many times by shooting everything in sight for lethal damage after my other dudes decide that actually killing the aliens is silly. Between him and my combat hacker, I can usually clean up any situation I find myself in, which is nice.

Does the Dark Event "ADVENT gets poison rounds" apply to only ADVENT units, or all alien units? Because I can't remember the last time an ADVENT unit got off a shot. Or hit me. But if it's all units, that event sounds HORRIBLE and I will choose to kill it even though the reward isn't nearly as good as the other options.

If anyone else is experiencing freezing while trying to deploy with a psi soldier, try verifying your game cache. My game was playable minus a few freezes requiring forced client restarts whenever I did certain things involving psi ops. Verified my cache just to make sure, and downloaded 2 files. Sorry if this has been mentioned already - the thread moves fast, and I didn't want anyone else to pull their hair out.

The character creator is both too fun and frustratingly limited at times. There are no wizard hats...which is probably a good thing really. Also, the nickname slot lacks the characters for "Archchancellor" which bugs me. Still, the best I could do was the Floppy Bonnie, and of course Ridcully would wear the version with bullets on it since he can't fit a crossbow in it. And purple is a fine and proper and traditional wizarding colour! I think Ridcully would have a blast with XCOM, plenty of specimens to hunt down, and a bigger specimen every other week! If Dr. Vahlen was still leading the show in the lab he'd probably have no issue bagging and tagging as many aliens as he could get is hands on at times. Yes, that is the Bursar's actual name. Tried my best to make him not look like just an older, twitchier version of Ridcully, not sure I succeeded. And of course the youngest member of the UU's faculty. And the only shaven one. Obviously he has to have HEX-patterned gear.

I have a ranger who got Rupture as his bonus ability on his very first level up. I going to build him as a stealthy ranger rather than a sword so he can pop out and assassinate the gently caress out of harder targets.

So I see a lot of complaints about the automatic pathfinding. You guys know that if you hold left control when mapping out your moves it sets up waypoints for movement. So no more running through every tile of fire to sword a guy to death, or eunning 7 tiles out the way to activate a new pod.

XCOM 2 Pro Tip: Mouse over the name of your soldier to see what their stats are. You can also mouse over their perks underneath the name for tooltips explaining them. You can do the same for their weapon to show any equipped mods or special ammo. You can mouse over the green or red chevrons on enemies to see what their bonuses or penalties are, but I'm not sure if you can see their stats like you can your soldiers.

Upgrade your Gremlin and equip the Skull Mine (upgraded Skulljack) the Mk. II and Mk. III Gremlins each have a higher hack stat, and when you do the project to turn Skulljacks into Skullmines they also give +25 hack stat. Oh, and each level gives about +5 Hack for your specialist...I think.

Missions that have a "hack the target" objective often have a hack stat raising bonus in the objective item. I've HEARD (but not confirmed) that similar such caches of loot are found inside some advent buildings randomly but don't quote me on that.
