Oh my god the game keeps replaying the sequence in the final room every time one of my soldiers passes by the statue now. This game is bugged as poo poo.

Apparently the "25% more experience from kills" project in the GTS is retroactive; I took it and two people were up for promotions that weren't before.

I read somewhere that the game doesn't actually track 'experience', just kills (and kill assists).

So I can see a dude who has, say, 10 kills get a bump to 12.5 kills after researching that. The project may simply be changing the 'value' of a kill from 1 to 1.25

I don't get the idea behind the Chrysalids in the Codex Brain Coordinates mission. They're more of an annoyance than anything, because it seems like the only way to deal with them is just move incredibly slowly, which is effective yet boring and dumb. Am I missing something obvious? I know the Specialist's scanner can see them, but I only get to use that once.

Twice if your Gremlins get upgraded enough, actually, which is nice.

e: Has anyone found a decent hacking rebalance mod that makes it less lovely to gamble super-charging a robotic unit for a low chance at a stun and a complete hail-mary shot at a mindcontrol, and that's if you get an Enemy Protocol result? I don't mind having a critical failure-state, I just mind it being binary with the success state. Making Haywire more like Mindspin but for robots seems fairer, tbh.

vvvv Yeah. The 4/8/12 guaranteed damage from Combat Protocol is probably a better use of my specialist's turn than the risk of buffing it in case I whiff the stun and I only ever go for the hack if I am 100% sure I can kill it even if everything goes horribly wrong, and then I'm probably just victory-lapping with Psis.

I usually just take the sure thing stun instead of the total control one, even if it succeeds the fact that it breaks always fucks me over.

I think I hosed my game up. I just did the Defence mission and it was a huge joke. Did anyone else do this?

I forgot you could even do that. I totally should for later, though with 100 devs/goons/other I don't know how likely it is to see them again.

I just bought a colonel ranger so I have a second in case I need it. I made her a pure blademaster. I've never used it, how good is Reaper in reality? It sounds pretty sweet but I don't know how huge the aim penalty gets.

I think I actually beat it without reloading, although I wasn't paying close attention. Definitely didn't reload in the last room. It's just a different kind of mission than the rest of the game; you have to bring more powers that aren't limited in use. I think the only thing I would have done differently is spec one of my gunners with saturation fire, but since it's bugged I haven't been taking it. When serial was on cooldown for my sniper it was getting a little hairy with low health low threat trash and saturation fire could have cleaned some of that up. I had a pet andromedon that about started the level with me lasted the whole way through, which helped.

The insta-complete thing is sometimes bugged. In my last game I got the bonus and the currently researching project finished immediately. Then I queued another, and that took the normal 5 day waiting time. Then a bit later when I got another core, I selected another and that finished instantly again...
