On the bright side, my Hive Mind bonus and Faceless 4 challenge benefit are increasingly lovely.

Never mind that they'll both collapse to an unimpressive pittance whenever I get around to ascending.

But yeah, for a game that was noteworthy for interesting content and a pretty decent update schedule to keep people busy, these months of gently caress-all have been something of a letdown.

Lesson learned, I guess. No second Transcend until I send my mercs out for enough rubies/click on the little fish thing often enough to have a QA right off the bat. Is it floored at giving 7 Souls?

Yes, minimum HS you can get from a QA is 7 so if you have 1-2 pocketed for the Transcend you are guaranteed 7-14 HS. Another tip is to Save your game before you Transcend; then afterwards, if you get a bad starting offer of Ancients and/or bad rerolls just reload your save, re-Transcend and try again.

I'm like 99% sure the new UI stuff like template save/load and buy all upgrades button are part of the UI update, so there's that to look forward to immediately.

I'm still confused by Realm Grinders popularity. I've tried to get into it a few times but unless I didn't get very far it was still closer to a Idle Heroes than a Mine Defense. You get your numbers big and reset so you can get them big again. Was I missing something?

Well that is the essence of all idlers. But there are other mechanics that open with each reincarnation. Also the ultimate "goal" is to get all the trophy's, and obviously to do that, your numbers will have to go up.

RG has a bunch of mutually exclusive choices and the solutions are pretty non obvious unless you go read the wiki and forum a bunch, which already sets it above the vast majority of idlers.

Also you need to interrupt the main gem growth grind on a regular basis to do other things to unlock factions, trophies, challenges, researches, etc.

Despite having all the content unlocked already, I really hope that when the RG devs get around to rewriting things and cleaning up descriptions they actually add explicit details of the Research unlock requirements like they did with Challenges. It's a total guessing game with two minor hints and half the kongregate forums seem to think that's totally okay. I'm of the opinion that an external site should never be needed just to find out how to get something and that even secret trophies are kinda pushing it.

It starts off fun, but you end up having to repeatedly redo your whole factory, and it ends up feeling kinda tedious.

It does, on the other hand, give you something to do while you wait days for it to build up research points.

Oh I don't disagree. I think that's part of why the reaction is so vehement (although way overblown) - RG has been getting updates so consistently and to basically have it grind to a halt for what looks like basically looks like lipstick on a pig is really irritating.

I dunno, count me in the 'new UI looks nice' camp. I'm all for changing it up. The other part is that they have made it clear that this allows for a lot more customization moving forward, so there's a lot of behind the scenes work going on.

Factory idle was fun starting off but having to redo your entire goddamn factory every time you get an upgrade is exceedingly obnoxious. I say you have to redo since the upgrades mean instead of a 3:2:1::4 ratio, it becomes 2:1:1:2 or whatever and if you leave the factory the way it is, you will start running at a loss. I managed to get up to electronics and quit.

e. and it didn't help that I discovered this reddit thread that has optimal builds for each ratio... like
etc

e2. If you want to play a game like this, just get Factorio; it's a thousand times better.

Minecraft isn't free? I mean the mods are but Minecraft itself is as much as Factorio.

Factorio is pretty much in a released state if you want to play around in the sandbox. I'm not sure what else is going to be added before 'official release'. There's a story mode but honestly I don't see a ton happening with that.

It's already release-quality, and I say that as someone who normally hates Early Access. My only real caveat is an unintuitive UI, which is getting a major overhaul for 0.13 (due in about a week). Seriously, if you liked Factory Idle then you should definitely buy Factorio.

Kinda wish there was a way to skip like all the waves of enemies that can't hurt you for more than 1% of your health through the block/resist/universal resist or something so I could actually have something to do other than stare as the waves sloooooooooowly tick up (or of course actually fix the problem but I have a feeling that will take a while).

In the options menu, you can turn the graphics to low which removes all the particle effects, among other things. I had those performance troubles Before then too.

the worst thing about perfect tower is that additional hit procs only work at the lowest speed (unless the dev has managed to figure that out)

that's why your furthest run on slow will be way way further than on fast

How many gems do you have? Once you're at the amount you needed to finish R15 it's time to start research, so R16 shouldn't be any tougher than R15 was.

I used lightning forge for most of it, I think. RWS broke for me every time I bought LS first out of the two spell choices - if I bought chanting, then strike, the save would import and read correctly. If not, it would tell me I didn't have LS.

I am not seeing this happen at least as far as the multishot/bounce/rapid fire procs are concerned (and sincerely doubt it for the elemental procs - max your elemental piercing, void, shatter, and incineration; I bet you'll see a difference). I am, however, still experiencing slowdown past wave 1500 (but not nearly as bad as before with medium quality, and the graphics button actually seems to work this time even if the speed increase is disappointing). Game is still not great but at least I can progress.

Beware the Cow

factory idle is good but way too slow and the upgrades make it worse. You can keep the same ratio for the most part but it often means buying 2+ upgrades for one thing alongside multiple upgrades for the other parts. You either have to rebuild your whole factory for every upgrade or wait a really long time to buy your next upgrade and there's no in-game way to know exactly how much you need for the next upgrade so there's no way to plan ahead. It's a neat idea but it's obvious that he was trying to sell the time travel tickets and stuff. I can't blame him because I'm sure people bought them and it's money but it still makes the game suffer.

Make sure you pick lightning strike as the last spell (I think). If it's in the wrong slot, RWS won't see it. It's been a few weeks since I've done it.

As already suggested, one of the forge builds like lightning forge, should do the job. Very important though: get the "Know Your Enemy, Part 1" artifact which unlocks a goddamn powerful upgrade for mercs. It's available starting in R12, I think, and makes the R15 -> R16 gem wall go from a terrible horrible grind to a moderate annoyance.

I think a better forge build than lightning forge (or diamond forge) exists somewhere, but I don't recall its name and the wiki doesn't seem to have been updated to include it.

Set up an autoclicker to click the treasure every 30 ms, and come back in 30-60 minutes or so. Less time than that, if you wait until R7 (for bloodlines) and add elf bloodline.

Trying that challenge without an autoclicker will take hours and hours and hours.

Scrying for faction coins is also an option, I suppose.

Its one that has to be done with no gem power, no reincarnation power, no excavation, no bloodlines, so yes, just wait it out.

I set up demons, then went offline and off to bed. It was done by the time i checked in in the morning.
