Still, I'd say this is the wrong thread. The car in the video is a replica. Still a shame to see a car that nice get banged up, but it's not one of the original two HUG cars.

Marquez is such a nut. Not much on personality but he's a joy to watch on the track, his cornering looks like a continuous lowside. And even when he takes it too far and does lowside, he just digs his shoulder into the pavement and shoves the bike up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zD6VOtYBhGk (it was a test session, no film of it) The reason he was in such a hurry in the first clip is it was qualifying and he wanted to get back and take his spare bike out.

Lorenzo has zero personality and is also apparently a giant douchenozzle off track.

Geirskogul posted:I thought the old guy said he'd been racing that car for 50 years? The original car was given back to Hurst in the sixties, used as a show car for awhile, and disappeared until the nineties. Riggle was working on the (replica) car that just rolled when the original (unrestored) came up for sale. He bought it, and sat on it for awhile while he toured with the replica. He sold the original a few years ago, and it got restored, but Bob Riggle is no longer the owner. The second "original" HUG car is also still extant, but also not owned by Bob Riggle.

Riggle's comment about "this" car for 50 years was what made me not even think of the provenance of that particular car. At least it wasn't original, but it sounds like it still has some history.
