How about a campaign that is just regular multiplayer matches except while the match is happening a bunch of NPC's are yabbering back and forth and you can barely hear anything they say between the explosions and concentrating on not dying.

im going to play and enjoy the battlefield 1 single player, something that may as well be a bonus on top of the good and fun multiplayer.

Not for any stupid plot (I remember 0% of it) but the unique and exciting set pieces (the rough seas carrier launch, charging into Tehran under mortar fire) were crazy awesome and memorable. If Bf1's campaign is just disjointed but awesome levels that give you a "holy poo poo this is Battlefield" feeling I'll be happy.

I keep reading around about how the single player is as open ended and multiplayer-ish permitting multiple styles of play. That kinda sounds like what made BC1 so great, with single player levels that were basically just giant maps that you could gently caress around on, with some scripted exceptions. BC2 narrowed it down but still kept it kinda flexible, BF3 was tunnelvision and BF4 made some weak attempts at open ended arenas. BFH seemed to have some Far Cry-ish outpost situations but nothing Battlefield massive. Really hoping that we're going to get big, replayable single player sandboxes with a fun historical context to match the replayable multiplayer sandbox with fun historical context. My hopes are pretty high tbh.

BigglesSWE posted:TRAILER TIME That certainly was an entertaining trailer. I wish they would have showed more actual gameplay or like part of a mission, but whatever. The only other details I can find on the SP is from Gamespot which they got from the ESRB ratings: quote:Battlefield 1 is set in "various locations" during the Great War. Players will take on the roles of a number of characters as the plot unfolds, including, according to the description, a fighter pilot, an armor crewman, a rebel fighter, and a "message-runner."

i think only 5 have been officially confirmed. as you see in the trailer, you also play as a harlem hellfighter(the black guy in the french helmet) and an Italian in loving juggernaught suit apperently. also dudes fighting on a blimp.

SeanBeansShako posted:I am curious though where the end destination for this message is now. I think you might be right about the message though. The trailer seemed to show a late-war focus, contrasting the inhumanity of the war with the people fighting to end it. Having the game end with you witnessing the war ending would be a blunt but effective way to complete that experience.
