"a bit"

A ~ten minute quest gives me maybe 200 quest points tops, and I'd need 10000 to buy out the casino alone, let alone evolution stones and stuff. Not sure where eggs factor in - isn't it just always better to buy evo stones? - but yeah, now that I beat the Champion I'll shelve this one until he figures out a real curve for endgame.

The eggs have the other starters + some other non-starter pokemon you cant get other places in it. I want to get the rest of it but I can't bring myself to bother grinding the quests. That poo poo needs retooled. Supposedly the more you do in one day the more points you get but there's too many little things keeping it from being easy to idle those up.

Plus the elemental shards for the evo stones. That poo poo needs rebalanced.

So far pretty sure. You can go back and catch everything you haven't already and then you can take level 100 Pokemon to mom and turn them into an egg and hatch the egg for a chance at getting a shiny pokemon if you really hate yourself. And there's legendaries you can catch. But yeah there isn't much right now.

I don't know anything about code but I was talking in the pokeclicker irc channel about how the tab crashes if you leave it in an inactive tab for too long and the conversation went like this:

yeah if you leave it in an inactive tab it will slow down a lot
i usually just put it in a seperate window to prevent it

@IshaD
Yup, nothing I can do about that

I feel like that shouldn't be a thing your game does and that should be preventable what with how many idle games don't do that exact thing.

Oh, that's why shinies didn't ever show up in the wild for me, I just assumed they were 1/8192 or whatever :v:

also yes he should learn to make it run in the background it's a fairly common stumbling block for a first idle game and therefore must be easy to overcome

Shinies actually CAN appear out in the wild - but they can also hatch from eggs, so for some rare pokemon that you can only get from eggs (e.g. the other starters), that's the only option for getting them.

EDIT: I caught one while leaving the game on and doing other stuff around the house for a while.

Well, I definitely see why AutoTrimps exists now. I could maybe stand to play the game completely manually if you advanced 10x quicker, and if limited storage didn't exist. What a terrible mechanic that should never be in any idler ever.

Thanks to the Realm Grinder halloween event I managed to unlock dragons at R47 with 1e31 gems, not bad. The vampire monster is indeed pretty broken! Druid/Angels with the faceless perk in the background made it very easy. I started back in august and it looks like I'm all caught up with the big boys now, still need to unlock tier spells but whatever.

There's also some more research you'll unlock from R47 (1125) to R55 (1500). Many of them are quite good, and in addition to the innate power of dragons will help you progress at a decent rate. After R55 things slow down as there are no new unlocks, though you'll eventually get to the level of gems where Spell Cataclysm (probably the only secret trophy you'll have remaining by then) is viable to go for. Its upgrade gives +50% max mana.

Unlocking tier spells is tedious but important. Your progress will stall out much more thoroughly if you can only cast tier 2, let alone only cast tier 1. That said, the unlocks take a bit less time for each R you wait, so if you're still making progress at a decent clip, keep going until you can't.

With the lack of new and interesting idlers lately i started playing The Perfect Tower

It has a decent amount of interesting features and mechanics, a ludicrous amount of upgrades and require a bit of babysitting so its not a very idle idler. It contains one of my biggest gaming pet peeves though, detrimental upgrades. In the later stages of the game you will die if your damage is too high because enemies reflect your shots back at you and your damage output far outpaces your health. Suddenly the game shifts from a pure focus on offensive upgrades (the only realistic way of achieving progress up until then) and to focusing on defensive upgrade (useless until then)

Learn marketable job skills by searching through the code and cheating like a motherfucker.

A big quality of life change is to reduce the pokeball catch time to nearly zero.

Increasing shinies by 8 times is a nice improvement too.

I also reduced underground tool use cost to zero and it was still tedious as hell. It'd probably be tolerable if it automatically mined one square per minute, with upgrades speeding it up.

Pokeball catch time goes down to like 1 second, I managed to survive. I want the shard cost and quest point poo poo to be slashed in hundredths (at most) and more pokemon added and the game to be less of a performance hog and quests to be less poo poo in general. And none of that I can hack, except to give myself shards and QP which kinda defeats the point, you know?

What drove me away was that the 4x speed seemed to do less and less as each individual play went on even with graphics off which wasn't fine in combo with only being able to get the millions/billions of orange cubes required to fill out the blueprint by playing for thousands of waves on lower difficulties. Might just be a problem borne of it not being toaster-compatible but there's no earthly reason an idle should be that much of a resource hog. If that actually got fixed I might try it again, though I don't even know if there's a cloud save or not so I'll probably have to start over from scratch.

I've been playing Scream Collector myself. It's really basic but very nicely themed and polished.

Maybe back up your save first.
This applies to a TON of different games.

I don't know how to do it in Firefox or anything, but in chrome, you can hit F12 to open the developer console.
You're going to want to go to sources.

I selected upgrades.js because it seemed like a reasonable place to start.
If you scroll through the code, you'll eventually find this:

pre:
var resetUpgrades = function(){
	player.catchBonus = 5;
	player.expMultiplier = 1;
	player.catchTime = 2000;
	player.moneyMultiplier = 1;
	player.clickMultiplier = 1;
	player.attackMultiplier = 1;
	player.upgradeList = [];
	initUpgrades();
	updateAll();
}
This looks interesting, it looks like a function that resets all player values to their defaults.
Click on the console tab and input the following:

pre:
player.catchTime
CASE SENSITIVE

You should get a result of something like this

Now try changing it
pre:
player.catchTime = 500
You can even do math
pre:
player.catchTime += 10
or
pre:
player.catchTime -= 10
or even
pre:
player.catchTime *= 10
These can come in handy when you're manipulating other variables.

So, I dug around some of the other files searching for the word "shard"

I found this in dungeons.js
pre:
        gainExp(curEnemy.exp,curEnemy.level,false);
        gainShards(curEnemy.type, 3);
        dungeonCanMove = 1;
and this in system.js
pre:
		gainMoney(Math.floor(money), "You earned $");
		gainExp(exp,level,false);
		player.routeKills[player.route]++
		gainShards(curEnemy.type,1);
		updateRoute();
Add a zero or two onto the gainShards(curEnemy.type, 300);
or
gainShards(curEnemy.type,10);

Right click the tab and press save.

So it's mostly searching around in the code to find stuff and changing things to be how you want them to be.

I broke through zone 100k on Infiroad so I guess I'm done with that? I was expecting some fireworks to go off but there was literally just the one achievement ("Seriously?") and nothing else. There's nothing left to do but upgrading the last relic to whatever max level it has.

You don't have all the achievements!

(because a couple of them are calibrated such that even when you're maxed on all relics and going to 150k before skills wear off you don't have them)

50 gems will get you an upgrade that lets you hold up to 6 powerups/spins/gems/etc. and collect them while offline (the "auto collect" in the top left under your current scream total).

Granted, it takes a while to earn that and six specials is kind of tiny, but still.

There aren't many that aren't terrible freemium cash ins. Abyssrium and Egg Inc are the only real 'idlers' with offline progression etc I'd recommend, but you should check out noted zero player games Soda Dungeon, Merchant, and Idle Mage Attack. Slurpy Derpy and Nonstop Knight were both promising and have had a few months of hopefully productive feature and balance patches.

Don't expect anything of similar caliber to realm grinder or mine defense or shark game though.
