There are a few other things of his on youtube, IQ 179 is pretty good but raw (the 2nd track has so many balls), and Prelude 55 reminds me of Moondog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQFf8a1lhWQ

Oh and this will play the full Mariah album, I don't think I had the whole thing in the previous link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCW2p4HYPJg&list=PLhBPKoI-NFNRrGX09F7Q4sk2vKNiviIaJ

Not a request, but I recommend folks looking for lots of music for relatively cheap to check out bundle sites. For the life of me I can't remember the site that a friend pointed me towards that resulted in me getting about 50 albums of various ambient, electronic, retro, chiptune, 80's-inspired, synth, and rock music for a pittance(maybe 20 bucks if that for all of it) that has resulted in dozens if not hundreds of hours of music I've felt are "keepers". Even now I'm still chipping away at the backlog of them and finding new great stuff, like this track from an "80's themed" album that is so very 80's

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiMIENyIyzg

If I find the site I got it off I'll link it here, it was basically Humble Bundle-styled "12 albums for the 4 dollar tier, 8 more for 3 dollars more" bundles.

Obviously been around for a while, but I feel like some folks don't even think to check sites like that for music.

Hell, if you buy stuff off Humble Bundle(games-wise), they often come bundled with soundtracks included. Over the years I had amassed nearly 250 game soundtracks just by buying various humble bundles, and there's a ton of good stuff in real obscure indie titles. One in particular that blew me away was Corporate Lifestyle Simulator, which has this soundtrack that is full of some amazing stuff. There's a lot of filthy, grungy synth, atmospheric/ambience, rock, and other varieties in this one album. Some of it reminds me a lot of the Hotline Miami soundtrack.

He has another album with the band Mariah that is equally as stunning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCW2p4HYPJg

I'm trying to listen to all of his poo poo but a lot of is region blocked on youtube but I'll find a way. Really all of it is worth a listen although those are definitely his two best albums (that I've heard so far). I just can't loving believe he made those albums in the early 80s, what a genius.

Farewell, good Hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

I've been listening to a lot of Ryuichi Sakamoto the last few days, especially his "1996" album that includes "Rain" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tKfYwc4zxA (just wow), and of course the "Arriving at fort Kiowa" song from The Revenant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0uFzRx7bV0

I mean, I could live and die by that song on repeat. It is so full of depth.

Is there any other music out there with such deep, rich, and amazing violin/chello work like that?

How about Eklipse? They're a four piece band, three violins and a cello. Not as classical sounding as they play pop- and rock covers, but don't let that scare you away; their arrangements are bloody beautiful. I don't give two shits about most of the originals they cover, but I'm in love with their albums.

What does deep and rich mean here? Like those instruments are all being played nicely enough but its not very clear what you're getting at.

Thanks for this, good poo poo. Sophie is like, bubblegum bass, right? is that what that iglooghost ep is too? I can't figure out how to find more poo poo with a similar sound- most of the pc music artists like sophie are wayyy more poppy. and I see people calling iglooghost footwork or breakbeat but that's obviously not quite right. I guess the real answer is just wait for a little while because this dude is only like 20? He'll probably put out a bunch more material on brainfeeder

Radio Spiricom
Aug 17, 2009

dj paypal probably comes closest. tielsie is a lesser known pc music artist who sorta does similar stuff. felicita too but his stuff hews more towards sound collage and noise (also 1/2 of lipgloss twins with a g cook)

i guess some other similar stuff would be labels like rytmeklubben and activia benz, and maybe even try hype williams/dean blunt/babyfather, elysia crampton/e+e, james ferraro, giant claw, gobby, and rustie and hudson mohawke's earlier releases

i think the main reason he gets grouped in with that whole scene is because he's from the uk (idk if he's from ldn tho) and is friends /sometimes collaborators with simon whybray who started the jack dansu/non stop pop party that pc music got their start playing.

Try Baroness.

And current-era Mastodon, who over the last two albums has gone into more 'straight up rock' style:

And you may like some Fugazi. It's more punk than metal but it's more similar to Helmet than Baroness or Mastodon.

Try the Melvins. Heavy as gently caress, very capable of being catchy. Particularly try the following albums:

Literally anything prior to 2003 or so.

Try People Under the Stairs, A Tribe Called Quest, Ghostface's solo records esp the Pretty Toney album, J. Dilla, anything east coast from the nineties.
